We are torn apart by both uncontrollable militarist apparatuses and the societies of control that could be defined as micropolitics…no matter where we live these days.
In this circumstance, our criteria of belonging will always be subject to a kind of chaotic motion…a highly complex society, indeed.

We think Ali has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which just means that he shakes uncontrollably all the time.

In 1918, underground mining phased out after uncontrollable fires erupted in the 88 miles of tunnels under the town. Open pit mining brought dynamiting. The hills rattled and buildings cracked. The surface began to shift and sections of the business district slid downward. The sliding jail moved 225 ft. and rests across the road from its original site.

You can feel it taking over
Can't you?
Little by little that simple feeling
that festers and transforms
Until it slowly becomes uncontrollable
That's how most of us end up here
We can't control that feeling
Of breaking, reviving, beginning, ending
It's impossible to survive like this
No one should have to live like this
And yet we do
It's the only survival we know

Just nothing.

After many years of creating representative pieces and developing technique and personal style, I now find myself uncontrollably delving into the form of conceptual art. I have a passion in responding to current affairs, exploring philosophical ideals and looking deeply into what affects the people of my generation, situation and state of mind. A lot of my pieces have a socio-political comment which often result in ideas that encompass grand proposals and ambitious final idea realisations including installation and performance pieces. I enjoy working with a great attention to detail and like to incorporate subtle, and often ironic statements.
I would say that I am most influenced by events and changes in our modern society and like to work in a relatable format, inspired by artists who reach out to audiences of all ages and backgrounds and break down the idea that art is just for the elite or wealthy. I understand that it is an exciting time for artists and how art is being perceived and I find this as stimulating as the radical changes we are facing such as technological advances, environmental issues and political and spiritual practice.
I feel that, through this course I will be able to refine the way in which I execute my ideas and develop useful skills of articulation and organisation. I'm excited to be surrounded by motivational peers with interests in the same areas as me, but also to engage with and learn from the new and different views of others.
Do you have this uncontrollable urge to reach into your screen and yank off all the loose threads? No? Just me then.
Had a Carrie moment and decided I had to have a giant corsage to wear to dinner with three gal friends. So I made one out of gold fabric scraps.
It was lovely, if I may say so myself. Unfortunately, it wasn't very photogenic. And then my camera died before I could attempt a prettier shot.

This photo makes me smile uncontrollably. I love it because I guess I kind of feel like I captured a rare sort of moment; This photo was taken on Las Ramblas in Barcelona, Spain. These school children were on a field trip and were asked to hold onto eachother so that no one would get lost. I think it's cute.
