Kitty is my 22 year old hyper thyroid uncontrollable bowel arthritic senial kidney issue plagued cat. She was a stray and my parents were forced to take her in before i was born because the owner didn't want her anymore, and their method of getting rid of her was to just throw her out the house. Little did my parents know, she was also pregnant when she joined us so we ended up going from no cats to 5 cats.

Today I have decided that I am going to LET GO of the Uncontrollable and the Unchangeable! This means that I'm releasing my need to control every situation, person, place or thing.
Its time to focus on ME! My life, my dreams, my goals!!! I'm not going to worry any more! If I focus on ME everything will fall into place!
Following the words of the Prayer for Serenity by Reinhold Niebuhr:
"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace. Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it, trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next."

The blog post How much time of an average life is spent waiting? features some pretty depressing statistics:
"According to a Timex survey, Americans wait:
- on average of 20 minutes a day for the bus or train
- 32 minutes whenever they visit a doctor
- 28 minutes in security lines whenever they travel
- 21 minutes for a significant other to get ready to go out
- 13 hours annually waiting on hold for a customer service
- 38 hours each year waiting in traffic
- those living in Big cities wait in traffic for more than 50 hours annually
- about 37 billion hours each year waiting in line somewhere"
In other words, we spent about 6 months of our entire lives waiting for things!
But a lot of that involves uncontrollable, involuntary waiting - it's not our fault when we are stuck on hold with a customer service representative waiting for some help. (By the way, that's estimated to take up about 43 days of our life!)
It's the controllable waiting for which we are at fault: the indecision that drives us, the decisions we defer, the actions we don't take, the initiative we forgo - all because we are waiting to see what might happen before taking action. The impact of that inaction is that we develop a mindset of not moving forward because we want to wait to see what happens. We start suffering from aggressive indecision. But in a fast-moving world, that usually means we aren't busy preparing for what might happen - and so we aren't ready when it happens!
Unnecessary waiting usually doesn't end well - there are many examples of what happens when companies wait for the future to unfold. I asked Microsoft's new Bing AI to provide me with a few:
--
Can you give me actual corporate examples of bad waiting decisions with company names and details?
- Motorola waited too long to enter the smartphone market, losing its dominant position in the mobile phone industry to competitors like Apple and Samsung
- Excite, an early internet portal, passed on the opportunity to buy Google for under $1 million in 1999, thinking that its own search engine was good enough1.
- Netflix announced a plan to split itself into two separate businesses in 2011, one for streaming and one for DVD rentals, but faced a huge backlash from customers and investors and quickly reversed its decision2.
- Kodak failed to embrace digital photography until it was too late, despite inventing the first digital camera in 1975. It filed for bankruptcy in 2012
--
(By the way, send me feedback - I'm waiting to see if using an AI for some of the research and preparation of my Daily Inspiration post is a good idea or bad idea. I'll wait.)
Those all seem rather tech-oriented, so I probed a bit further. Bing gave me a few more answers.
--
What is the most significant example of 'bad waiting' in corporate history?
There is no definitive answer to this question, as different sources may have different criteria and opinions on what constitutes a bad waiting decision in corporate history. However, based on some of the web search results, here are some possible candidates:
- Blockbuster waited too long to embrace online streaming and rental services, rejecting a partnership offer from Netflix in 2000, and eventually filing for bankruptcy in 2011
- Nokia waited too long to adopt Android as its operating system for smartphones, sticking with its own Symbian platform until 2011, when it was already losing market share to Apple and Samsung.
- Kodak waited too long to embrace digital photography until it was too late, despite inventing the first digital camera in 1975. It filed for bankruptcy in 2012.
- Nike waited too long to upgrade its supply chain software system in 2000, resulting in bugs and integration issues that caused inventory shortages and excesses. Nike had to slash prices to get rid of the additional inventory, putting pressure on margins and profits.
--
(Also, another question. How should I cite A.I. answers and content in my posts? Does anyone have any definitive guidance? I'll wait to find out what you have to say!)
Here's the problem with waiting - you can't just 'wait and see' your way into the future. Think about what we might do day to day if we let a culture of 'active indecision' seep into our culture:
- we wait for clarity on strategy but might not get any
- we wait for clarity on a trend but might never get it in time
- we wait for someone to make a decision but they might be suffering from aggressive indecision
- we wait for some certainty in our decision that might take away risk but we might never get it
- we wait for someone to tell us what to do, but they don't know what to do in the first place
- we wait for a trend to get to critical mass, but by the time it does, we've lost the opportunity
We wait.
No doubt sometimes waiting makes sense - we might need to get more information to assess the real risks and benefits of moving forward. Once again, I asked Bing for a few examples:
--
"Here are some actual corporate examples of good waiting decisions with company names and details:
- Apple waited until 2007 to launch its first iPhone, after years of research and development, testing different designs and features, and creating a strong brand loyalty
- Netflix waited until 2013 to start producing its own original content, after building a large customer base, collecting data on viewing preferences, and securing licensing deals with studios
- Amazon waited until 2014 to enter the smartphone market with its Fire Phone, after dominating the e-commerce and cloud computing sectors, expanding into new product categories, and acquiring patents and technologies². However, the Fire Phone was not a success due to poor design and marketing choices.
--
Ok, so sometimes there is 'good waiting!'
But that's not always the case - I've seen many innovation and leadership failures as a result of waiting, particularly with the events I did with Motorola. Waiting can lead to costly mistakes because we miss out on significant opportunities. Not only that, it means that we aren't investing in gaining the necessary experience - what I call experiential capital - so that we are ready when the trend actually begins to crystallize and become significant.
The art of waiting always involved a tradeoff, a pause between acting and not acting. But we need to be aware of an overreliance on waiting. We can't wait around to take on this potential leadership miscalculation.
I couldn't wait to ask Bing about the art of waiting.
Oh.
Ok, stop waiting.

Dream of BobV as carl gustav jung's Philemon
Dreamed of a very white, old, baby in a bag. Then the baby was a "Philemon". He felt like an uncontrollable, unstopable, teenager. I had the dreem a week ago and each morning I'd wake up thinking about it. Including waking to the thought
"She's just one of BobV's lunytunes" from message #10321
Re: [iasd-PsiDreams] Re: NoHell NoHell (aka noel noel)
That thought was refering to "me".
I woke up just now and realised that the baby was BobV. And the strange, all-white (uncontrollable, unstopable,) teenager, with his hands out at his sides wearing a strange white thingy, was BobV, as Carl Gustav Jung's Philemon.
I found this old picture of BobV dressed as Carl Gustav Jung's Philemon.
Does BobV want to be Our Philemon (???)
Please tell me what you know about the photo above of BobV as Philemon
And
Carl Gustav Jung's Philemon.

Since opening this thread I've been Googleing Youtubes. This is the most to the point concerning my dream.

She says, in the Red Book, that Jung told her (...) that he was sure that Philemon was the same figure as that inspired the Buddha and Mani; the founder of Manichaeism, and Christ and Muhammad. All of these figures communed with God directly. And Jung said to Cary Fink that Philemon inspired them all. So he's an incredibly important figure because now he appears to Jung in his active imagination.

But she says that he says, that, these figures, Buddha, Christ and Mani and Muhammed and so on, identified with this figure but Jung refused to do so. He said,
"I want to remain a psychologist who understands the process".
Ok, that's a very important thing.

.. Unfortunately I missed that piece in my training (audience laughter) I was quite disappointed when I read that, I thought I was away on that day or something.

Jung NEVER took this stuff literally.

In my dream The baby in the carry bag, that I was carrying, and the teenage Philemon were both very, very white. Flat white, not glowing. Bloodless, as in, no red. No colour at all.

The diabolical saliva that drips uncontrollably from a hungry dragon’s jaws contains not only 50 types of bacteria but also the toxic anticoagulant that ensures that a severely bitten victim will eventually bleed to death. By the time this has happened, however, other dragons will have been attracted to the feeding frenzy by scent that they can detect over a distance of four kilometres.

Adam's brother, Ben, laughing uncontrollably late at night during last Wednesday's bbq. 5 or 6 of us were with him on the deck and none of us actually remember what was so funny. But there are definitely photos of everyone dying and even rolling on the ground about something funny.
I liked the pure black background of this one. And the facial expression is obviously killer.

Description: Life is complicated and uncontrollable, sometimes we don’t have a choice, and it just drives us crazy. In this studio work, I choice to present our life story in an abstract way by using three canvases. There are three layers on each canvas, as we are born into a sinful world but we are pure & innocent at birth, I used red, yellow and white as the base colour because its represents joy, innocence and happiness. For the second layer, I have used tiny brushes to spots dots with different colours and those represents the happy sides of our life. However, life will never be perfect, there must be frustrations as our life goes on. Therefore, I chose to use a random draping technique for the top layer and I chose black colour because it represents darkness, failure and unhappiness.
For the medium of the canvas, I chose acrylic to paint on because its dries so fast and it is easy to control. At last, as I believe what goes around, comes back around, therefore I named this abstract work as “Roundabout”.
Step right up, squeeze the handle, discover how your grip strength directly relates to your performance in love.
We helped NJ's friend V clear out stuff from her old apartment and put into storage. Nobody wanted to handle an uncontrollable trailer on those slippery, slushy semi-winter roads, so we used three cars and made three trips each, taking most of the day. Plus there was lots of pizza, which was very good.
The only way this "little" gadget here would, and did, get mobile, would be if you put it in a car and drove it somewhere. Of course, it wouldn't be of any use during the transit.
One sign of how old it is, aside from the utterly jurassic wall plug (not shown), is the fact that it has a user manual at the center of the dial.
Lift the phone off (assuming that it refers to the handset)
Wait for the dial tone
Then use the dial (being rather unspecific regarding how)
Well, actually, seeing as most if not all phones today have buttons, and fewer and fewer of us have actually seen a dial phone, perhaps if we reintroduced them to the market, they too would need a similar user manual.
Life is short, break rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably & never regret anything that makes u smile!
Though beautiful, the Lupinus has spread uncontrollably in many areas in Norway and from 2016 it will be prohibited to import, sell or contribute to further spread of Lupinus in the wild in Norway. Make sure to limit your Lupinus to your garden! It is easy to do by removing the flowering stems before any of the Lupinus seed pods are ripe. Recycle your green gold (garden waste) and soil in your own garden to keep “control”, and use it to maintain your garden flowering.
This boy is warn out from today’s adventures in his mama’s arms (audio missing: loud, uncontrollable snoring.) I know this picture doesn’t showcase a place in the Triangle, but I feel like it showcases a feeling in such a colliding world. No matter my faults, I am loved by this furry boy. Silly as it may be, I think we should all strive to be like Gus: tolerant, accepting, joyful, forgiving, free of all judgement despite differences, comforting and loving. The car accelerates, and it's only a matter of moments before the boy is basked in the piercing gaze of the headlights. Electrical signals race from Jame's brain, sending commands to his hands and feet to stop, to steer away, to do anything. But as in every night before this, his hands and feet do not respond. They aren't his, he has no control over their actions.
From behind a set of eyes which feel alien to him, all he can do is watch in familiar abject horror as the car continues towards the child.
