Admittedly, the "both at both ends" scroll bar style isn't exposed in System Prefs, but it's been a hidden "defaults" preference ever since Mac OS X 10.0.
Also noteworthy: the iTunes-style scroller.

User interface (UI) prototyping is an iterative analysis technique in which users are actively involved in the mocking-up of the UI for a system like in website designing. UI prototyping is a process that can help you plan your project better, avoid usability flaws and make your design more users friendly. Here is an infographic on importance of UI prototyping in web design.
Our motion designers at Punchcut prepared this video to illustrate our thinking about touch UI design. Read the full-length text, blogged last week here: “Design Considerations for Touch UI“.

I wanted to do some UI designs, but could not find a good phone prototype to drop my UI into. So I created my own.
The screen is 640 x 360, the nHD resolution commonly found in Nokia touchscreen phones. I'm sure I will create others in the future, but this is a good start I think.
Of course, it's only now that I notice the outside edge is slightly cropped (just a single pixel) on each of the flat sides. Oh well, that'll be changed for v2.
Loading and playing a small sample sound, in this case. Light grey indicates load progress, black represents playhead position.

New washer showed up today after the old one started leaking out the bottom. I guess it's been a while since I looked at the UI design on a washer. Some nice intuitive touches on the interface. Basic temperature control, "soil control" (that will be great for cyclocross season), and some good indicators as to just what the hell is happening (ie: what part of the cycle are you in and most importantly, how much longer until the thing is done).
No manual required. Just a bit of previous knowledge as to how to wash clothes with a machine. Well done.
Dublin Connolly, commonly called Connolly station (Irish: Stáisiún Uí Chonghaile), (previously named Amiens Street Station) is one of the main railway stations in Dublin, Ireland, and is a focal point in the Irish route network. The ornate station facade has a distinctive Italianate tower at its centre. Situated on the north side of the River Liffey, the station provides intercity and commuter services to the north, northwest and south of the country. The north-south Dublin Area Rapid Transit (DART) service also passes through the station. The station offices serve as the headquarters of the Irish Rail firm, Iarnród Éireann.
