Helvetica Neue is number 2 on my list of top 5 favourite types. Futura Bold is at number 1 of course. Then there's Simple. Century Gothic used to be in there but it's been kicked out by two newcomers, Coquette and Mostra. I'm kidding of course, I don't have a list of favourite types. That would be a little Aspergers of me...
Oops, I almost forgot about my self-imposed Wednesday upload day since I'm at home in a slight fever. Here is anyway a word written on a nice textured surface paper, I tried to leave a bit of the paper pattern visible in the black areas. This style might be worth exploring in a bit longer text and maybe with a bit less shading, let's see if I remember to try that. Made with same ol' felt-tip and gel pens. Original size about 8 x 4 cm.

This exhibition — “Republish: Typography As...” is an effort of the team behind Republish to see the typefaces in action, while treading the border of art & design. A variety of notions are investigated through the artworks, such as
[1] the juxtaposition of heritage and contemporary,
[2] the physical materialism of type, and
[3] the collective memory of cultural heritage and artifacts.
The typography project me and my sis did during the Earth Hour 2010 lights out. Sis drew the types with her phone while I took the pictures with my camera. =D
Hope all those who participated in this year's Earth Hour had a nice memorable time. Thanks for joining and raising awareness for Mother Earth.
This Hungarian tabloid has some pretty extreme diacritics in its text face: just look at those double acutes! Like 2/3 of the x-height tall! It makes sense though, I suppose, from a legibility standpoint in rough printing conditions.
From the exhibit BELIEF+DOUBT=SANITY by artist Barbara Kruger at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC. Huge typography on the floors and walls. Stunning statement.

For this workshop, I explored how letters could portray a certain feeling or idea when arranged in different ways. I worked with the Impact Regular typeface. For the word 'Tension' I used the letter 'T' as it has a harsh sound to it and when arranged with the 'tops of the T's' together, there seems to be a restricted amount of negative space and a sense of force.
This workshop made me particularly aware of layout and the power of typography.
This workshop contributed to my Poems on the Underground project.

There are four different types of font, three different styles,(regular, italic, bold), and they have also used both capital and lowercase in this sign. The blends of the different typefaces and letter sizes makes this sign ugly and does'nt attract the eye to anything in particular aswell as it being to clustered which makes it hard to realise exactly what it is there trying to communicate.
This is my first proper go at an ambigram. It's of my daughter Neve Wilsay's surname – a "meshing" of my girlfriend's (WILiams) and mine (SAYers).
Any comments gladly received. Do all the letters read OK, or can you suggest any tweaks?

Cable Thief is the new typeface from Studio Disjointed that forms as part of an obsession with typography and the overhead power cables found across the rail network.
In the UK the theft of cable from rail networks has become a widespread problem that costs the network financially but also impacts directly on those using the service for travel.
The typeface is an experiment that looks at aspects of itself that are missing, the fragility of the font is held together by cables and pulleys. Without these the typeface would collapse.
Cable Thief will soon be available on print and T-Shirts through our face book page..
