We had a wonderful breakfast there but thought 9:30 am was too early for pie. Other patrons were having pie for breakfast though.
Laker Lee A Tregurtha is heading down Lake Superior to load taconite at Two Harbors, Minnesota. She was built in 1942 as the tanker Samoset at Bethlehem Shipbuilding in Baltimore and was converted to a laker in 1961. Taken from 700 feet up in Silver Creek.
Laker northbound on Lake Superior after having left Duluth-Superior. She is likely the Edgar B Speer of the Great Lakes Fleet of Duluth. She was built in 1980 at American Shipbuilding, Lorain OH and is 1004 feet.
Two Harbors Light Station overlooking Agate Bay, Two Harbors, Minnesota was first lit April 15, 1892. The light currently has two revolving aerobeacons. The keeper lived in the house attached to the tower. The small house to the right was home of the assistant keeper.

We had a suite at Superior Shores, Two Harbors, MN.I loved it-gas fireplace-huge windows-jacuzzi, fully equiped kitchen-two couches-two tv's. These inscribed rocks on the far side of a little foot bridge have been left over the years to commemorate weddings, pets or just a good time.
I remember a time before this tunnel existed. Highway 61 used to wrap around Silver Creek Cliff and there was a rather treacherous drop off. Apparently it was a safety issue, because they blasted right through the cliff and built this tunnel.
This mighty steam locomotive is a sister of 227, on display at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. This one is in Beaver Bay, MN.
