Candle light and soul forever

a dream of you and me together,

Say you believe it, say you believe it,

Free your mind of doubt and danger,

be for real don't be a stranger,

We can achieve it, we can achieve it

Come a little bit closer baby, get it on, get it on,

'Cause tonight is the night when two become one ...

Monday April 20th, 2015 - Kyoto, Japan

My first upload taken with my new Fujifilm X100T, which I'm still very much getting used to. This pair of little girls running through a rain-sodden Kyoto were too cute for words. I never quite had the opportunity to get the perfect shot, but after a prolonged period without doing any street photography at all, I'll take this.

I just love the sound of their wings flapping.

Tough start of a new week. Bad results in several stupid tests at school lately and a lot of work to finish before intense days of practice tests next week. You see what I'm talking about ?

So after courses me and Loic had to made a new shot for the school project we've been working on all the weekend. The theme is "Do it as..." a (famous or not so) photographer.

The original feelings we had with this work were very great, we found we had to understand the style of a photographer and shot new pictures with this particular style. We also have to redact about this photographer, define his style and explain his pictures.

In fact, that's basically less interesting, we have to purely copy two pictures of a photographer like a xerox and describe "technically" the original pictures.

Whatever, it's been several weeks that I wanted to make a tribute to Dustin Diaz with this theme, cause he has been inspiring for me. But in the end, I was really unmotivated to just copy his work.

Don't think that's the better way to learn something...

I've been working on learning how Dustin does his pictures for few months to inspire my own ones and be able to shoot something decent for this theme.

Finally I decided to change and try some new things, I wanted to make fashion pictures outdoor with the spring feeling, I found great fashion pictures by Ted Grambeau, but that was not really what I wanted to do. I've shot some pics as Ted Grambeau this Sunday with Emmeline, but finally we ended with the Dustin like picture in the subway that I really liked.

With no fashion photographer name found, I decided to get back on my first idea, that's why we had to shot another one this Monday with Loic.

First we went to a lake outside Toulouse with Melissa and Florent where Loic wanted to shoot his theme picture. Found the place interesting and decided to go for a fashion shoot with Melissa for today's shot. After that, we went back to my place to pack the rest of the things we needed for my DD shot and we went to the center to find the right spot.

A lot of hard work. Hope you'll enjoy it cause we don't have that much sleep theese days...

Love to read your comments. Take care, see ya tomorrow.

"Don’t see photographs as an end result, rather as a source."

“The river, we wanna see the river!” they said.

“Don’t you want to go to the movies, instead?” I asked. “Shopping center, museum? Look, it’s raining!”

“Movies are for kids. We are photos, buddy”. “Museum? That sucks!”. “Who cares about the rain?” “We want the river! We want the river! We want the river!”

I understood their wish. Lisbon would have not been settled if the Tagus river had chosen another place to meet the Atlantic ocean. My street photos would have not been taken if Lisbon had not been settled. So, the Tagus river is like a grandparent to them.

OK, the river, let’s go visit grand-dad, in spite of the rain and the damn wind.

They looked so proud inside their smart new frames! They insisted on being photographed in Cais da Matinha, where two steamships are being repaired. Under and above an old abandoned wharf, enjoying a brief moment of shining sun. At night, with the lights of Vasco da Gama Bridge at their backs. I even took a candid of them whilst they were contemplating the sunset at Poço do Bispo dock.

The nasty weather didn’t allow us the typical touristic photos near the Cais das Colunas, the Torre de Belém, or the Padrão dos Descobrimentos. I told them that after the birth of their future siblings, we will go all together to visit those places, but on a sunny day, without wind.

I’ve written “after the birth of their future siblings” because all these photos belong to a project (S & R – 105) that hasn’t finished yet. Here it is my contribution to it until now (all 26 photos you can see portrayed here). BTW, this 12 by 12 instruction is a nice pretext to thank the adms, mods, instructors, gallerists, commentators, fellow photographers, and everybody who contributes to S & R – 105. Thank you!!

...and a Puffin !

A bug's eye view of the world. Found this toothpick grasshopper in the pastures I was exploring. Only the 2nd time I've seen this species. Weather was hot with intense sunlight. Perfect for grasshoppers.
