a red-crested cardinal in the heart of lulu's Tree ♥
these lovely ones always come in pairs.. :)
the way i can tell all of them apart is by the beautifully-different shapes of their red breast markings
here's some information about red-crested cardinals from several websites (< with thanks to them :)
they mate for life
initially they came to hawai'i from brazil
the male constructs the nest then the female incubates the eggs for about 10 days
both parents feed the chicks until they fledge, then feeding & guarding is solely by the male
adult females and males look the same .. yet their juveniles have a brown crest and black bill
often the juveniles will wait for the adult to give food to them - even though they are the same size!
♥
p.s. .. the other night i realized that all the images (ones photographed by me) on this stream from the last few years .. except for a sprinkling from the honolulu academy of arts .. are within walking distance of my house! .. so clearly i need to get out more :)
For the Modern Mini Mystery Round Robin. I thought they'd be cute but now I'm not sure if I should sew them onto the little quilt or come up with a different border to add. I hate indecision.
Got to Tweet Tarn around 04:10 on Tuesday morning ready for a beautiful sunrise, instead we could barely see past or feet, this was the only break in the cloud, it lasted literally 50 seconds. Still a beautiful place nonetheless
Tweeting over food.

Finally we have discovered how "Tweets" are handled behind the scenes.
The birds do look like they are talking with each other.
I myself don't do Twitter so I'm not sure whether or not I exceeded the character or word limit in this description.

A long tailed tit calling its mate over......they are constantly twittering to each other, but I think its the first time I have managed to catch one with its mouth open
And here's the colour version of the last monochrome image I posted yesterday. Its a copy I made from a tutorial. Ive been learning to use a new 3D modeling software over the past three days because I want to create backgrounds and objects to put into my images for no reason other than I'm addicted to Infotainment ( information mixed with entertainment)
