January turtles

I saw this snapping turtle crossing the road on my way home from my father's place. I turned it to face the sun. I got right down to the ground to shoot into its face. I wasn't "That" close. Their jaws are strong enough to break a hockey stick.

I found a turtle and I like turtles

I went to Arnold Park this morning to take some pictures. A lovely lady named Cathy was looking at this turtle on the parking lot. As you can see, there's a fish hook stuck in it's mouth.

I was walking past this disgusting thing in my hallway this morning and it looked like a turtle shell, which inspired me to photograph it and do some creative colour post-processing. In fact it's a dirty old soccer ball my dogs have all but ripped to pieces.

This is what I call a turtle's eye view. I have Lucky up on a bale of hay so that we can see the colors that another turtle would see. From up above Lucky is much more drab.

Lucky is a male "Three-toed-boxturtle." I was surprised to learn that the name Lucky is used a lot for naming turtles. I suppose that comes from the near-death situations that they are found. Except for a chunk of missing shell on his belly, Lucky was in pretty good shape when I took him in.

Sammy was a gift from a friend, He used to be named Danny, but I have a very close friend named Danny, so of course Someone had to change their name and the turtle volunteered.
