June evening at Lake Maria State Park, MN. See a painted turtle in the grass and get out to get a few photos and expect it to run off like most painted turtles do, but it didn't. It was digging in the ground a hole and thought it was strange and then the first egg popped into the hole and watched her drop 8 eggs into the hole and then covered the hole and walked back to the lake.

It might have another name, but I've always heard it called "The Turtle."

This turtle was roaming around our back yard for a few days, probably building a nest somewhere. Strange, because our yard is completely fenced in by 6 foot fences, so she must have rappelled in somehow.

Seeing a turtle underwater is always a treat. Seeing one up close and not spooking it into leaving, is an experience I shall cherish forever! This particular one pause from its meal, peeked at me, then went back to eating the sea grass which grows in abundance in Black Forest at Balicasag Island, Bohol.
*I had to do some editing in Lightroom for this particular shot. It was my first dive with the camera, and was testing out different white balance settings. Unfortunately, the original photo did not do the turtle justice.
This guy was lounging on the river's edge among the plastic bottles and sticks. He was either very tired, or pregnant, or accustomed to getting picked up.

At the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, this wasn't even a turtle display, but a turtle walking around in some other animal's space. That leaf totally makes the picture for me. At first, I thought the red dots on the side of the face were the eyes, such that this turtle had large scary red eyes. In fact, you almost have to view the turtle at original size to even see the eyes.
