I haven't seen too many turtles this year. Maybe it was a bit too hot for them. They always come out on damp and muggy days like this morning was.

 

This one went into hiding as soon as he (she?) saw me approching with the camera.

This is a turtle my sisters found on the road.

This large common snapping turtle was spotted crossing the road at Mingo National Wildlife Refuge in Missouri.

Believe this is a sun turtle and yes, he is sunning himself. I took it because of the reflection in the calm waters in the cove.

We were lucky enough to see a sea turtle while snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. Not sure which species we saw; there are six species that live in the reef.

these sea turtles in Mexico are huge, my first real encounter with them, and when we swam with them at Akumal Beach, down the coast from where we stayed near Xcaret, you got a real sense of their being and an amazing feeling to be snorkelling above these wonderful animals as they swam along the bottom of the sea bed, occasionally surfacing for air. Riviera Maya, Mexico...summer 2016.
