What motivated me to create this picture? The idea of turning an ordinary cell phone photo with Photoshop into an impressionistic pencil drawing with the addition of pastels

Boeing KB-50J, Pima Air & Space Museum. My supervisor at Garrett back in the eighties was a Flight Engineer and top turret crewman on B-17's and B-24's during WWII. After the war he was a flight engineer with SAC on B-50's. He had some great stories. One thing he mentioned that I always remembered was how slow the props seemed be turning on the B-50 when they had the engines set for the longest range on flights across the Atlantic. There is a photo you see here and there of a B-50 with the name "Thunderbird" on the nose doing a low pass at an airshow in England. He painted the nose art on that B-50.

The photo mentioned above is on the Wikipedia B-50 page and is captioned "Boeing B-50D of 43d Bombardment Wing 15th Air Force while on detachment to England in May 1953".

This composition utilizes photos I took of "Le Grand Rassemblement," a sculptural installation created by Marcel Gagnon for Le Centre d’Art Marcel Gagnon de Sainte-Flavie, Quebec. The original sculptures, mounted on the rocky shore of the St. Lawrence River, are constructed from wood, cement, rope and other textiles. This image uses superimposition and textures to blend some of the photos together.

Wikipedia: HSB Turning Torso is a Deconstructivist skyscraper in Malmö, Sweden, located on the Swedish side of the Öresund strait.[1] It was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and officially opened on 27 August 2005. The tower reaches a height of 190 metres (623 feet) with 54 stories. Upon completion, it was the tallest building in Scandinavia,[The tower's design is based on a sculpture by Calatrava called Twisting Torso. It uses nine segments of five-story pentagons that twist as it rises; the topmost segment is twisted ninety degrees clockwise with respect to the ground floor. Each floor consists of an irregular pentagonal shape rotating around the vertical core, which is supported by an exterior steel framework. The two bottom segments are intended as office space. Segments three to nine house 147 luxury apartments.

The building is not for public access. I couldn't get into the building, so I took a lot of photos outside. It is surrounded by a posh neighborhood. The whole area is kinda of architects' playground.

Fun time with some coins, lightbox, and color prism. Hope you enjoy this series as much as I liked playing around with the light and angles of the light.

Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to watch the leaves turn...

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotion know what it means to want to escape from these. Emily Dickinson

Just had a couple of days in London hitting some of the galleries. Naturally I also took loads of pictures whilst wandering about from venue to venue, and this is the first off the roll.

Shot with my all new, all singing, all dancing, smart phone. Very smart as it turns out because it's producing some very credible and impressive images.

No, I know, it won't replace my cameras - well not completely - but it was a bit of an eye opener just how much has improved since my last smart phone purchase (and this one is sooo last year - in terms of tech) and I haven't even switched over to Pro mode yet. Many happy pictures to come I think.

Thank you for visiting my stream.

Winter replacing autumn

Here's a chameleon tail for your Monday! This fellow had his eyes closed for most of the time I was looking at him, so I was looking for other interesting part of the body.

Today's my first in-service day as I look toward beginning a new school year. The school year's regular schedule usually helps me get Monday through Friday posting regularity of photos. Here's to a great new year! :)
