Crusaders storm past Broncos.WHITINSVILLE CHRISTIAN 87, KEEFE TECH 38..By Carl Setterlund CORRESPONDENT..WORCESTER— Whitinsville Christian continued to breeze in its postseason march, turning back third-seeded Keefe Tech, 87-38, in a Central Mass. Division 3 semifinal tonight at WPI’s Harrington Auditorium. .“They’re into it,” Crusaders coach Jeff Bajema said. “They’re having the time of their lives right now.”..Senior guard Taylor Bajema scored 24 points to lead the second-seeded Crusaders, the defending champions who will play in their third straight final. Six-foot-9 Hans Miersma and Colin Richey each added 15 points before the starters were pulled midway through the third quarter...“These hoops were great to us today,” Taylor Bajema said. “Everybody was hitting 3s, and when we’re on fire, we just don’t miss. We’ve got a lot of great shooters on this team.”..Whitinsville Christian (20-2) faces top-seeded Quaboag in the final at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Fitchburg State...The Crusaders likely will be without starting forward Antonio Estrella after the sophomore suffered what appeared to be a serious ankle injury in the first quarter...Senior guard Jose Morales (8 points) and younger brother Brandon Morales (9 points) carried the scoring for Keefe Tech, who finished 18-3...“We’ve started a full junior pack in recent games in the tournament, and we didn’t really think this was going to be the season,” said Keefe Tech coach Paul Cavicchi, whose Broncos lose one key player to graduation, Jose Morales. “We’re real happy with where we are… We’re going to bring a lot of kids back, and I think the experience is going to be good for them.”..Miersma quickly capitalized on the Crusaders’ huge height advantage, winning the opening tip and then getting free on the right baseline on the game’s first possession. ..After receiving the ball, the senior center promptly drove for a dunk, setting the tone early...“This height doesn’t come around often,” coach Bajema said...Jose Morales responded with a 3-pointer from the left side for the Broncos, but Taylor Bajema, who scored 12 first-quarter points, came back to drain a trey...Whitinsville led, 25-10, after one, then went on a 12-3 spurt to start the second. Miersma’s inside bucket off an inbounds pass made it 37-13...Miersma scored on a putback as time expired to extend the Crusaders’ halftime lead to 45-19...Whitinsville Christian kept hitting after intermission, starting with an 18-0 run, with Richey hitting three 3-pointers...The Broncos finally broke their scoreless drought five minutes into the second half after Anthony Morales’ no-look pass in traffic earned Devin Arroyo an open look inside...“We’ve been working on defense all year, and we’re finally executing,” Taylor Bajema said. “Our main goal is just to play great defense, and we’ve been doing that the past three weeks and held a lot of good teams pretty low.”..A highlight for Keefe Tech came at the end of the third quarter, when Wilfredo DeJesus jumped into a passing lane for a steal and heaved a shot from half court, swishing it at the buzzer. But that 3-pointer only left the Broncos trailing, 74-28, entering the fourth quarter. ..Whitinsville Christian junior forward Jesse Dykstra had eight points, all in the final period

Let's turn around to show you the back of my silver satin nightdress. It's equally soft, smooth and shiny as the front, and notice how the liquid satin just effortlessly follows my movements as I'm turning. That's what I love about satin too; the thin smooth fabric easily slides over my skin, comfortably follows all my motions and looks great every step of the way.

This is my take on the turning Twenty pattern. I didn't have a copy of the pattern when I cut this so I took a wild guess and it worked! The two main fabrics are Heather Ross "puss and Owl" and the moon faces. The photo isn't the greatest because my sewing room is in the basement with no natural light. The colours aren't that garish IRL.

I don't suppose the intention was that it would capture all the debris when the river was in flood. A nearby plaque says:-

The sculpture is cast in polished aluminium using a section of fallen Black Poplar tree trunk, taken from Ladywell Fields, to create a tribute to nature. Responding to wind or a change in current, the sculpture turns gently in the River Ravensbourne.

Apologies for the poor quality of this snap, the sun was unco-operative and my wife was a tadge slow washing the screen. (Apparently my fault for not topping up the bottle)

If I could turn back time, I'd like to meet these people--my paternal great-grandparents Andrew Neil and Fanny Holmes Neil, circa late very early 1900s. I love the posture of these two---there is a closeness and comfortableness in the way that they are posing together.

Andrew was an 1858 immigrant from Sorbie, Wigtownshire, Scotland and Fanny came to the US from Ireland, most likely Tyrone County, in 1863,

My mother recently found this photo in a box of my grandmother's with no identification on it. The hat the farmer is wearing and the woman's bonnet, along with the farm implements and horses seem to indicate the 1890s to early 1900s.

It is very difficult to identify the people for certain because their faces--in particular, his--are obscured; but, I know other family members can be ruled out. The woman in the photograph resembles a photo of Fanny when she was much older, which can be found in my photostream.

I am confident that this isn't a photograph of my other set of grandparents; so, I am basing my identification of this man as Andrew based on my firm belief that the woman is Fanny.

All along the Chinese silk road we would find dried chillis in our food, in our soups. And here, somewhere near Korla, in Gansu province, we saw one source. A field, filled with previously harvested chillis, turned regularly so that both sides would catch the sun and the peppers dry evenly, home of men and women with large pitchforks. That much bright red, a challenge to paint...

Axles for the shay were turned in a collet holder. In this photo, the shop made saw holder has been used to cut two relief grooves using a 1/32" saw blade. The lathe is turned at 230 rpm and the saw is rotated using a portable drill in the opposite direction to cut each groove.
