ABOUT BETTER BROTHERS LOS ANGELES

Better Brothers Los Angeles was created to provide spaces for Black gay men to network, socialize and be BETTER – at life, love and community. Developing a sense of community has been a challenge for some Black gay men, given the cultural and religious opposition to their sexual orientation. As those challenges have receded in mainstream society, they still present significant difficulties and constrain a sense of well-being for Black gay men within the Black community. Better Brothers Los Angeles has sponsored cultural, recreational, and social/networking events, and continues to create a community where Black gay men and women can walk with a greater sense of confidence and pride. ABOUT THE DIVA FOUNDATION

The DIVA Foundation -- founded in 1990 by Tony-nominated actress and HIV/AIDS advocate Sheryl Lee Ralph -- is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, created as a living memorial to the many friends she lost to HIV/AIDS as an original cast member of the Broadway musical “Dreamgirls,” and because of her concern for the threat HIV/AIDS posed to women and children. Over the years, the DIVA Foundation has worked to break the silence and erase the stigma still connected to HIV/AIDS and encourage people to get tested in order to know their HIV status.

From the Sojourner Truth monument in Battle Creek, Michigan.

One of the great things about statues is that they never complain when you enter their personal space, nor do they want prints or tell you that your pictures made them look fat.

You can read more about Sojourner Truth here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sojourner_Truth

There is one truther in the Gorbals, and he puts these stickers up on every traffic light and lamp post in the area. From 'Are you a "happy" slave?' to just the url for some conspiracy theory sites, they always make me laugh. This one in particular though, is just ridiculous.

A better question, mr truther sir, is do you know what a database is?

I gave a presentation called "Why bottled water makes Amanda cranky". Here are scribed some pithy facts on my "truth labels". The nine facts gave the big picture of the bottled water issue. These facts were gleaned from the Sierra Club bottled water campaign and the e-Magazine article. This is the beginning of the traveling green workshop I am developing. Margie kindly provided 5 gallons of water for our picnic, in two refillable containers she filled up from the Whole Foods reverse osmosis water station.

Girls Theme Week Live Truth or dare

Ok so this one almost falls into both categories. For starters truth: this is a total screw up shot! I forgot to press the timer button so when I pushed the shutter button this is what I got! Another truth my clothing almost never matches when I am lounging at home. I always photoshop everything! Last truth I always forget to take things out of the "shot" hence the sippy cup!

Ok dare: this is a totally unphotoshoped pic I never add those on here there is ALWAYS some type of photoshopping. Like I would have cloned out the sippy cup. Another dare the fact that I posted a total screw up pic which I never would do either!

I thought it was interesting that on the truth side of the cross is what looks to be a bible and the justice side is a knife. Does a cross make a good scale or is it a bit unbending.

Maybe I am looking into this a bit more than the guy who had it branded onto his body.
