The Landmark Trust rescues endangered buildings of architectural and cultural importance and turns them into self-catering holiday flats. The buildings are often in remote locations and come with a library of books and folders about the building and its geographic, historic and often literary context. Most flats have some pasttimes and a jigsaw or two - most often a 250pc Wentworth wooden jigsaw - and completing the jigsaw is a point of honour amongst visitors. The Landmark Trust has an enthusiastic following, and its own flickr group:

My favorite thing about this picture is how the sign on the right is upside-down, as if to match the building. :)
This used to be the headquarters of BayBank.
I'm always keen to support the work of UK Wildlife Trusts and was delighted to be told that one of my images was in the Autumn/Winter 2017 edition of the Devon Wildlife Trust magazine. In this case, a Redstart at Emsworthy Mire in the lower left corner.
Water Rhymes is a weekly course designed to help you discover the joys and benefits of introducing your baby to water in a fun, yet structured way and learn key water confidence skills, using word association, games and exercises.
Where babies are concerned it is important to remember that they have no inherent fear of the water - after all they were surrounded by it for several months! Not only that, they also have a natural and instinctual ability to hold their breath when submerged. This course won't make your baby a swimmer but aims to build upon this ability by teaching babies not to panic if they should fall into water.
Most people agree that getting your baby used to water and starting baby swimming early on is one of the best starts you can give your baby. Whilst there are varying opinions about exactly when to start, babies are welcome at our Water Rhymes course from as early as a few months old.
By the end of this course your baby should have adapted to their surroundings and understand key word associations. Many of the parents that have attended previous classes have gone on to join structured swimming lessons for themselves and their babies.
Swimming with your baby builds confidence, trust and communication skills. Your baby will experience the positive health benefits of swimming such as improved stamina and breathing.

The Bayham track in the garden of Scotney castle, is possibly of medieval origin. It may have been worn away by herds of pigs being driven from nearby Bayham Abbey in search of food or to market.

The Churches Conservation Trust is trying out a new concept to bring St Laurence’s church on St Benedict Street, Norwich into re-use. It is a called The Common Room. Working in collaboration with The Churches Conservation Trust, 00:/ and Social Spaces are introducing the idea to the local community by bringing it to life for a day,
And we would love you to be part of it…
What is The Common Room?
The Common Room could transform St Laurence’s church into a new type of shared space, made and shaped collectively by the community, and run on the principles of collaboration, connection and resourcefulness. Working through a co-operative membership model you could have access to the space, to meet people, experiment with ideas and start new projects for a small regular membership cost.
More than a coffee shop, restaurant, gallery or theatre alone - more than a traditional community centre, club house or office. You might pop in to make yourself a cup of tea have a chat and read your emails. Bring a dish and share a meal with others. Learn how to fix your bike, or the toaster. Or try and build your next big invention.
The idea of the Common Room is that it could be a social engine room for developing your ideas and projects.
What happens here would be up to you.

Working Downtown, you are constantly confronted with the Old and the New, sometimes within the same building, but it's that contrast that is the beauty of Pittsburgh. Despite the epic failure to save the Civic Arena, there are some shinning examples of presearved and reused buildings like the classic Union Trust Building, now part of the Bank of New York Mellon complex in Downtown Pittsburgh.
