On 19 December 2022, the bipartisan United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack voted unanimously, 9 - 0, to refer former President Donald tRump to the U.S. Department of Justice for prosecution on charges of:
☞ Obstruction of an official proceeding;
☞ Conspiracy to defraud the United States;
☞ Conspiracy to make a false statement;
☞ Attempts to incite, assist, aid or comfort an insurrection.

▶ After refusing to concede the 2020 U.S. presidential election and then perpetuating false claims of widespread voter fraud, then-President Donald Trump summoned a mob to the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The Committee received sworn testimony that Trump knew he did not win the election, identifying him as "the center of the first and only effort by any U.S. President to overturn an election and obstruct the peaceful transition of power".
▶ A terrible and sad moment in our history but also a critical one, reaffirming that no one in America is above the law, including (especially) the president. That is, of course, pending action by the Justice Department.

▶ Note the date of release on the cover to the report: "December 00, 2022." Obviously, the committee had sent the cover sheet to the Government Printing Office before the final report was completed.

Donald tRump was found guilty by 57 senators — a majority of the U.S. Senate— of inciting insurrection against the government of the United States of America. That vote, however, was 9 short of the super-majority constitutionally mandated for conviction.

▶ Only Republican Senators Richard Burr (N.C.), Bill Cassidy (La.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Mitt Romney (Utah), Ben Sasse (Neb.), and Patrick Toomey (Pa.) had the fortitude, honesty, and, yes, patriotism to vote with the Democrats in convicting Donald tRump of insurrection against the United States.
▶ And, so it has been demonstrated. In America today, it is a far worse crime to kneel in protest against bigotry and murder than it is to incite treason and murder.

"Building this wall out of LEGO was a brilliant idea. It was my idea. I guarantee you, this is going to work."

This build was a lot of fun - I was really surprised by how enjoyable building a cube dude was! And it was great fun to do that wall too!

Trump Tower clock on 5th avenue! We were just outside of Tiffany's waiting for it to open on a rainy New York day!
I was a little suspicious why the moon was so orange tonight, so I adjusted my focus and got a better result. Someone was sending their Bat Signal onto the moon because they need Batman’s help. The skin tone was perfect for tonight.
The lesson I learned after 4 years of the Trump reign of arrogant, racist, divisive, cruel, and disrespectful behavior is that we have to protect our democracy. Nov. 2020
When history books are written in the years to come he will be pleased to find he will be the No. 1 Worst President we have had.

tRump's daily coronavirus press 'briefings' have become a repeating loop of lies, blame, self- aggrandizement, gaslighting, and temper tantrums.
He continues to play this sad game as Americans die by the tens of thousands.

Race remains an issue in America and is perhaps more tangible now than at anytime that I can remember. All the euphoria about a post racist society that we heard after 2008 seems to have been premature, as more astute observers had pointed out even then.

WHO AM I? He crows and struts about, has a good crest of hair, a comb-over, puffs his chest out and has no issue with his size. Clue- My hero Bob Dylan has said if you vote for this guy, don't follow me on twitter!
Never a dull moment in US politics...
The Trump Tower Toronto on the right - funny how the building over the years has mirrored some of the current politics..
- internal dissent - investors who purchased units in the building tried to sue due to false advertising (and lost)
- questionable facade - the streets around the Trump Tower have been closed a few times due to falling or loose windows on the buildings facade
- structurally sound? - streets around the Trump tower were closed for 2 days because the 900ft spire at the top of the building was unstable and swaying
And some foreshadowing with the stormy clouds above ;-)
When Frank told me Trump had called off his visit to Denmark, I immediately asked him how long it would take Trump to attack Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
It didn't take long. Today, Trump reached into his 5th-grader's bag of insults and pulled out the one reserved for women who speak truth to his absurd power.
Ever thin skinned, Trump couldn't stand having his Greenland gambit called "absurd," so he told the world that the Prime Minister's comments were NASTY!! So there, mean lady!
Frederiksen is now in good company. According to the Washington Post,, the other "nasty" women who've gotten under Trump's thin skin are: "the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland and British royal family member Meghan Markle."
It seems that among the many men who've crossed Trump, only Ted Cruz crossed the line into "nasty" territory.

Oh, say! can you see by the dawn's early light.
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming;
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there:
Oh, say! does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
The democratic world is horrified. I hope that Trump will have to answer in court for this riot against democracy. Whether America remains a worldwide paragon of democratic values will depend on this.
Last summer in Germany, we had a comparable incident when conspiracy theorists were running up the stairs of Reichstag building. But yesterday, the President himself called for the storm. Unique in history!
God bless America!
