True photos on Flickr

This image captures the bloom of the cactus at my home in a rich but true color when shot in the dark. Each of these images of the "night-blooming cereus" are very different from each other because I was trying out several homemade lighting experiments. The image immediately previous to this one is more blue and cooler in tone.

Since this 9' tall cactus pillar blooms only once a year, I was lucky to capture images in the middle of the night, before the bees found it. There are many images on my stream of the past years' attempts to photograph this amazing desert flower. This series at present has 4 images in a row.
