nina has been the closest of friends for nearly always. .. we met in eugene bennett's painting class in medford, oregon when we were about 8 or 9. .. she is younger by exactly six months. :)
we taught swimming classes together in the summer .. went to the same high school & university .. both had careers in the movie biz .. both taught yoga .. both have studied natureopathic healing & spiritual pathways our whole lives.
and we both have a symbiotic heart/soul connection with our doggies, rosie and lulu.. :)
nina is a professional artist as well .. innovative, wholly original, creative, magical..
she is brave, generous, so fun!, full with light and ever-young .. she makes Life a celebration..
she has always dazzled me!

There is no sweeter love than that of my parents. I swear after 37 years together they still act like the high school sweethearts they once were. On my recent visit to California, my mom and I went to the beach and she specifically wanted this shot. Well, actually she just wanted a picture of the heard with their initials but I convinced her that having her in it would be much sweeter. I absolutely LOVE this picture. Not so much for the way it looks (because I am biased) but because it just tells a sweet, sweet love story of two people that mean the most to me..

This was my 2nd digital camera bought in 2003/4. The optics of this bridge camera were very good and the AF was rather fast. (10x optical zoom). I am a huge fan of bridge cameras, today they offer great zooms and good quality images. (Lumix FZ50, Finepix S4000, Leica VF1, Olympus sp800 and 600 .....)

Tens of thousands of people flocked to Limerick over the May Bank Holiday weekend for Riverfest 2017, the city’s biggest ever summer festival.

Riverfest 2017 attracted more than 40,000 people to the city over the weekend, soaking up the electric atmosphere and watching the impressive events on display.
The highlights of the weekend included:
- A spectacular fireworks display on Sunday night
- Amazing acrobatic stunts and skills by some of the world’s best jet and wakeboarders
Free Zipline over the River Shannon
- BBQ skills on show at -Riverfest BBQ Competition
- World Champion jetboarders Scotty Knemeyer and Bo Krook were two of the stand out stars of Riverfest 2017 as they thrilled the crowds with unbelievable displays in the water as part of the Maldron Hotel Riverfest on the Shannon.
They wowed the spectators as they performed dolphin dives, backflips and barrel rolls, all while seemingly floating in the air above the water.
The Riverfestival Village at Arthur’s Quay Park proved a treat for all the family, with food and craft stalls, music and fun and vintage amusements and rides keeping everyone entertained.
Only the truly adventurous and fearless tried the new Zipline out over the water from Arthur’s Quay to Honan’s Quay. Climbing high around 40 feet above the village, being harnessed onto a wire, there were shrieks of terror from some as they zoomed through the air to the other side before safely landing on the ground.
The Riverest BBQ Competition found a new home along the River Shannon Boardwalk at Harvey’s Quay, where teams cooked food for the crowds of people to sample.
The team from New Road Clinic, headed by Patrick O’Sullivan was crowned overall winners of Limerick’s Riverfest BBQ competition. They won a cash prize of €400 and will now go on to represent Ireland at the World BBQ Association European Championships which take place later in the year.
A spectacular fireworks display lit up the night sky on Sunday as thousands of people lined the quays getting the best vantage points for the show. An added attraction this year before the fireworks was an LED water display with jetboarders and jetskiers performing tricks and stunts, keeping the crowds entertained before the fireworks exploded high over the city.
Earlier in the day, around 12,000 runners participated in the Barringtons Hospital Great Limerick Run, a six mile, half marathon, marathon and team relay event which took in many of the historical and scenic sights across Limerick.
The Run featured entries from all over Ireland and abroad with musical acts from marching bands, gospel choirs, traditional music and DJs entertaining participants along the route.
Meanwhile thousands of children took part in their own event, the UL Sport Kids Run organised by the Barrington’s Hospital Great Limerick Run on Saturday.
Fantastic fringe events also took place across the city and county over the May Bank Holiday weekend including comedy, theatre, and music gigs, adding to the festival atmosphere of Riverfest 2017.

The Sainte-Chapelle or 'Holy Chapel', in the courtyard of the royal palace on the Île de la Cité (now part of a later administrative complex known as La Conciergerie), was built to house Louis IX's collection of relics of Christ, which included the Crown of Thorns, the Image of Edessa and some thirty other items. Louis purchased his Passion relics from Baldwin II, the Latin emperor at Constantinople, for the sum of 135,000 livres, though this money was actually paid to the Venetians, to whom the relics had been pawned. The relics arrived in Paris in August 1239, carried from Venice by two Dominican friars. For the final stage of their journey they were carried by the King himself, barefoot and dressed as a penitent, a scene depicted in the Relics of the Passion window on the south side of the chapel. The relics were stored in a large and elaborate silver chest, the Grand-Chasse, on which Louis spent a further 100,000 livres. The entire chapel, by contrast, cost 40,000 livres to build and glaze. Until it was completed in 1248, the relics were housed at chapels at the Château de Vincennes and a specially built chapel at the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye. In 1246, fragments of the True Cross and the Holy Lance were added to Louis' collection, along with other relics. The chapel was consecrated on 26 April 1248 and Louis' relics were moved to their new home with great ceremony.
