Smile on Saturday and this week's topic "Halloween style"
Linzer Cookies, or Linzer Eyes, are one of the most famous and traditional biscuits in Austria, they are usually made in the shape of stars, but I made them in Halloween style.

Wearing a costume reminiscent of Santa Fe's ghost, mid-90s looking BNSF local freight L CHI1051 31A hustles 62 cars of Galesburg traffic out of the Chicago area at Lockport, IL, on a chilly Halloween afternoon along the Chillicothe Subdivision. It's beginning to look a lot more like Christmas than Halloween on this 31st of October, prompting many Chicago-area municipalities to postpone their trick-or-treating festivities to a night of more favorable weather.
A full Hunter's Moon aka Blood Moon over Eastern Nebraska Monday evening. It appeared to be a Halloween-orange as it rose over the horizon.
The male Common Kingfisher has first attracted the female's attention by a couple of high pitched 'peeps'. Once he has an audience he catches a plump roach - which does the trick and brings her onto his perch, she is calling to him here to hand the fish over.
Just in time for Halloween, a freak October snowstorm brought heavy wet snow to our region.. strange to see the trees peaking with autumn color suddenly blanketed in snowfall!

Image is 2.28" W. These are post-it notes folded and shot with a shallow depth of field. I'm not exactly sure what happened here, but I believe I focused on the back part of the object, which made the foreground out-of-focus. Foreground Bokeh !!
In photography, bokeh is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in out-of-focus parts of an image, caused by circles of confusion. Bokeh has also been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light". Differences in lens aberrations and aperture shape cause very different bokeh effects.
Bokeh is often most visible around small background highlights, such as specular reflections and light sources, which is why it is often associated with such areas. However, bokeh is not limited to highlights; blur occurs in all regions of an image which are outside the depth of field.

I spent some free time sewing Blythe Halloween dresses in August knowing I would not have any time in October. This is one of them. The pumpkin fabric is from Joanne's. It is a knit.

I had to buy a life sized doll to model this vintage Halloween costume with this awful mask because, well… it was just too good not to use in a photo! Growing up, I never had a store bought Halloween costume. My mom always made us costumes… and sometimes Dad even made them. Mom sewed. Dad was a carpenter. And yes, sometimes he “built” costumes! How I wish I had pictures… Every year there would be a Halloween parade through town, ending at the school where there was a costume contest, Needless to say, my sister and I took home prizes most years! I did the same for my kids, but could never top the costumes that my parents made!
**Tried to add this from my phone last night.. .and it showed up multiple times. Had to delete a few! I guess it's going to be ONE OF THOSE DAYS!!
I'm not sure whose twisted idea It was to put hundreds of adolescents In under-funded schools, run by people whose dreams were crushed years ago, but I admire the sadism.

You don't see to many HD Toranas and this one is is a little more special than most with its power plant. The motor is a mechanically supercharged Holden six and is sure to generate more than a few smiles when the right foot is planted towards the floor. Must have been quite a few days and nights getting it sorted, but it was in my opinion a stand out of the show.
