In Christianity palm tree is the symbol of “victory over death” and celebrated as Palm Sunday at the Easter holiday season.
Seen at Golden Gate Park. San Francisco, California, USA, these palm trees are so different from those in front of the Synagogue, that I uploaded earlier :
Long ago the owners of this garage decided that the trees had come first. They liked the shade, so they worked around them!
Joshua Tree National Park, California
Sunrise near the north entrance to the park, a transitional zone between the Mojave Desert (the Joshua Tree is the signature plant) and the Sonora Desert (note the small cholla cactus with its glowing spines close to the Joshua Tree).
This is a side view of the famous Avenue of Oaks at the Boone Hall Plantation, SC. The trees were planted in 1743 by the original owner John Boone. Originally there were 86 trees lining the road to the house. Two of them were destroyed by the lightning. If you pay closer attention you will notice a gap between the third and fourth tree.

This was a late evening shot when the sun was on the horizon so that it's rays were just catching the very tops of the trees making it look as if they were on fire. I shot some video to as it was quite windy and the trees were swaying mesmerisingly.
One thing i'll miss, once winter splits
is the bare and naked trees..
For spring has waited, patiently
to dress them up in leaves.
I love to see the shadow of
their trunks against a sunset sky...
(Naked trees are sexy things
but for what i don't know why...)
I love their branches laced in snow
up against a sky of blue...
I love them dressed up in ice
with a bright sun shining through..
Once their dressed, i must confess
they don't do a thing for me
though i do love the spring time buds
that change the scenery..
I love them best, when their dressed
In the beauty Autumn brings..
Still, Naked trees, are defiently
one one my favorite things...
I know that lots of you will say
"she's talking about a friggin tree.".
But do one thing,for me this spring
check out a naked pregant tree
Avalon has a lot of beautiful flowering trees of which this was one. I know nothing about tropical flowering trees and would really like to know the name of this one.

Backlight trees in a very thin layer of fog.
The light pattern coming out of the trees is natural. We were at the altitude of the limit of the clouds and we were coming in and out of the clouds. I waited for the clouds to move up, and shot into the sun, with a light layer of clouds in between the sun and me, creating the star-shaped flare in the fog. It was a very beautiful moment.
Dark skies at the old tree today. The rain stayed away during my visit, but I biked home through the rain a few hours later.
Trees will always leave me in awe, especially when they are big enough to feel like a home. This was such peaceful place and I could have been sitting there for ever watching all the animals living there.

To me, this looks like someone got trapped in a tree by a magicians spell. With Holloween coming I was looking for something scary, and this is the best I could come up with.
This unusual tree is on the Ringling estate in Sarasota, otherwise known as Ca' d'Zan. It's where John and Mabel Ringling lived and, now is a museum with sprawling gardens on Sarasota Bay.
This also reminds me of an Ent of LOTR fame. Of course, we have Peter Jackson's idea what they looked like; but before that, when I read the books, I imagined something like this. Maybe trees do have awareness, and we can communicate somehow. That would be a lot of fun, not scary at all. I'll look for something more frightening.
I saw this row of poplars in a local calender so as i was passing here at lunchtime i could not resist a few grab shots!

This shot was taken @ forty minutes prior to the previous post The sun was rising over my right shoulder which was catching both the tree, the low clouds and the mist, reflecting some stunning colours. For added atmosphere there was a frost providing the white flecks on the grass.
