I used to have the great pleasure of cutting these patterns and I was pleasantly surprised to see them on Google Earth. I have poured my soul out along these paths and amongst these spheres. To me they called back and answered my soul songs. These pictures give me the platform as a visionary belvedere, a pronounced observatory to let my eyes begin to take my spirit on journeys into the skies and under the earth into the places below that act as a divine echo to join the balanced harmony of above and below forever held internally.

“Which do you want: the pain of staying where you are, or the pain of growth?” —Judith Hanson Lasater, via The Artidote
This quote brings up so many intriguing thoughts: there is no path in life that is painless, especially for those of us that care so very deeply. But then I also realized…the tree is a perfect example of both of these things: staying where you are, and growing.
I’ve always been attracted to trees, some would say on an abnormal level that makes people I’m out on walks with think I’m weird or even crazy. We won’t even talk about bystanders. I’ll stop mid-stride to get a closer look at the bark of a tree, to touch it and feel the peace of its being. Trees have always been characters in my mind, just as much as a human. I find them full of wisdom and triumph.
In the spirit of growth, I want to reach my arms out as the branches of a tree, winding and splitting in endless directions to encompass as much of the world as possible. However, I crave to feel grounded, to have roots that are more firmly based in love…for others, for myself, and for the universe.
When I die, I hope for my body to be placed in a pod of sorts so that I can physically become food for a tree to grow out of. This is something I’ve been interested in for years that I am only beginning to understand all the meaning behind, besides just wanting to give back to the earth. I hope someday that I will become as magnificent as this tree, and others will find peace in my shade.
