Can anyone tell me what species these 2 are?

I have tried for years to get one of these. They are very skittish and I knew it would fly if I so much as cracked the door. I shot it through a screened window and was quite surprised at the quality after post processing.

July 2012 Long Point Ontario Canada

Taken at Cuerden Valley Park

The base of one "star tree" at Willamette University. Trunk is easily six feet across.

This is a cluster of five enormous trees.

I took tons of photos of this caterpillar, most of them weren't in focus, or where just a bit blurry. I didn't have my tripod with me, that and I don't have a macro lens, my normal lens isn't designed for close up shots like this.

As taken this morning of December the 1st.

...and whatever happens to creep into the background : )

My feet, for size comparison purposes. :)

Looking up the trunk of one of the trees in our backyard.

St. Johns Conservation

Melting ice on a tree trunk. The white in the background is more ice all over the ground.

What a lovely day. It was windy, yes. But lovely sunny. Since I'm working on Friday, I decided to go for a strawl with Thijs. In front of the photo is a tree trunk, in the back two birds I do not know the name of, but they're sunbathing. They look funny.
