We were watching lions when the cranes were spotted in the treetop. I was so excited seeing them and managed to get a few shots before the action began with the lions.

The trees reach upward during a hike in West Vancouver.

Being in a forest in the fog can be awesome, but so is being above it :)

Neighbors' treetop captured using 500 IR filter, then processed in Photoshop, and finally modified using Topaz Studio 2 filters to produce a more painterly effect.

The 'treetop' I am referring to; is our 40-foot tree/mast! Some

of the larger sail-ships in the harbor have two 'trees' (masts),

as they are often referred to in the 'large-sail-ship' community.]

*[Gulls are just 'built for flight', aren't they!?! So streamline!]

During my stay in Belgium I've had a lot of fun doing a bike ride with my daughter. It brought us to this track, which circles around the trees, higher and higher, all the way to their tops. I was happy to find this square composition, I think it works really well with the light and gave the opportunity to capture this nice, little memory.

A family dressed in Canadian rain gear is walking along the treetops at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. This area provides a squirrel’s eye view of a thriving coastal rainforest, nestled in a forest of 1300-year-old Douglas-firs. The Treetops Adventure utilizes an innovative compression system that doesn't require bolts or nails to secure its viewing platforms and seven suspension bridges. The views from here are truly incredible!

Here is a look at last light across the treetops of Shawnee State Forest in Ohio, October 20, 2022. This was taken from a fire tower in that state forest, my first experience like this. It was pretty magical.

I took this shot from the hillside overlooking a quiet country road and a row of trees bordering a frost covered field containing sheep.

I just had to get this iconic tree seeing I was in the area.

Just a quick pull over off the highway to capture the treetops with a couple Chugash Mountain peaks in the distance. Then back on the road. Quick question ... who here cleans their camera sensors themselves vs taking them in for service?

Date Palm.

Dates have been a staple food of the Middle East and the Indus Valley for thousands of years. There is archaeological evidence of date cultivation in eastern Arabia in 6000 BCE. (Alvarez-Mon 2006). They are believed to have originated around what is now Iraq, and have been cultivated since ancient times from Mesopotamia to prehistoric Egypt, possibly as early as 4000 BCE. The Ancient Egyptians used the fruits to make date wine, and ate them at harvest.

There is also archaeological evidence of date cultivation in Mehrgarh around 7000 BCE, a Neolithic civilization in what is now western Pakistan. Evidence of cultivation is continually found throughout later civilizations in the Indus Valley, including the Harappan period 2600 to 1900 BCE.

In later times, traders spread dates around South West Asia, northern Africa, and Spain. Dates were introduced into Mexico and California by the Spaniards in 1765, around Mission San Ignacio.

A date palm cultivar, known as Judean date palm is renowned for its long-lived seed, which successfully sprouted after accidental storage for 2000 years. This particular seed is presently reputed to be the oldest viable seed, but the upper survival time limit of properly stored seeds remains unknown.

Fossil records show that the date palm has existed for at least 50 million years.

Two days ago, a strong wind storm came and knocked down some trees in our yard. Yellow Flamboyant was one of them ... :(
