Eastern Fox Squirrel, aka Bryant's Fox Squirrel or Fox Squirrel, Sciurus niger, taking refuge from the photographer in a big cottonwood tree along the Big Rapids Riverwalk, Big Rapids, Michigan, USA
Naz and Jen came to visit and this is the only picture I took. I guess I was enjoying their company too much to bother. This is at some overpriced sushi place in the Japantown mall that their hosts recommended... the only really notable thing about the place was Sophia Coppola's autograph. In any case, it was wonderful to see them again and hopefully it won't be so long until the next time.
i went with a light lace pattern using a merino silk blend.

i went a little hat crazy. sure, we live in california, but hats are still a necessity occasionally.
This woman has had a pretty rough spell with a lot of major changes in her life in a year. But she's done her best to manage them with grace and ease. And I'm sure the sunshine, good food, fresh and warm air of San Francisco have made it easier for her. I truly think that she has every ability she needs to get through life as an inspiration for everyone who loves her. And she has an amazing partner in life who enhances everything about her that makes me love and miss her.

naz is merely modeling this hat for photographic purposes—it was shipped off to the midwest for our dear friend and accountant.
i bought this yarn in austin at country hill weavers, oh, about two and a half years ago, and just a month ago finished this scarf. though it doesn't look like it, it's actually a lace pattern, and was a pain in my butt. but at least i like how it turned out.
A Douglas' Squirrel (Tamiasciurus douglasii) on a picnic table in the Deschutes National Forest, Oregon
For the first time in a while, we had the larger tree squirrels at our feeders. There were five of them at one point in time - clearly they heard from their cousins in Ann Arbor that I was a softie for squirrels. That was just a matter of time, I suppose! Cosmo and Wanda were enjoying it for sure.

my latest creation of the ribbons/pearls/chains collection. this one isn't as long as the first one i did, but i quite like the color combo. very sophisticated.
naz said it reminded him of chocolate. i don't think that's bad.
