A calm settling evening from last year, with just a hint of the sea in the background

15 minutes before sunrise I arrived at the viewpoint of Cloef. With a friendly " :) moin, I already missed something?" I came around the corner.

All were very quiet and focused at work, the mood was good and only the shutters of the cameras were heard.

A lovely day - stood under this oak and was struck by its beauty. It's one of the last trees to lose its leaves. Oak trees lose and grow their leaves at slightly differing times to help the species survive. Clever, aren't they?

Trees burst with autumnal color in the 14th Street / Shaw / Logan neighborhoods in Washington, DC.

From a pullout along Reservoir Road on Raccoon Mountain’s pumped-storage loop, the Tennessee River curves around the opposite ridge in a broad S. A bright band of sandstone—T-Wall on the Prentice Cooper side—cuts through the green, while towering summer clouds build over the gorge.

Wandering above the lush canopy of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, with Table Mountain rising in the distance. The Boomslang Walkway curves through the trees like a quiet ribbon in the wind, offering one of the most peaceful views in Cape Town.

It's all about perspective. Flat on your back, the world looks radically different.

Thick canopy with dense understory on the way to the cloud shrouded summit of a tropical rain forest ridgeline trail.

Study of Light #2

Title Bending light when it passes through water. Why does it bend? Better ask a bloke called Snell (or Willebrord Snellius as he's know by amongst his mates), because it was his idea, and now it's become a law!

Image: An underwater shot of the very-bright sunlight coming through the tree-canopy as it illuminates the bottom of a pool. The water was crystal-clear, and the bend of the rays can be seen here... or that might be wide-angle lens distortion maybe?!

The eucalypti grow rapidly, and many species attain great height. Eucalyptus wood is extensively used as fuel, and the timber is commonly used in buildings and fencing. There are more than 700 species of eucalyptus and most are native to Australia. Species of eucalyptus are cultivated widely in the tropical and temperate world, including the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Mediterranean Basin, the Middle East, China, and the Indian subcontinent. However, the range over which many eucalypts can be planted in the temperate zone is constrained by their limited cold tolerance.

The Blue Mountains of southeastern Australia have been a centre of eucalypt diversification; their name is in reference to the blue haze prevalent in the area, believed derived from the volatile terpenoids emitted by these trees.

A quick shot as I walked the dogs this evening.

Shot 24/30 for the April group.

Bridge Road connects the beach town of Hobe Sound to Jupiter Island, and right before you cross the bridge you'll discover a tree canopy that covers the road. You could easily mistake this for Bent Banyan Way, shared in a previous post here - but this is a completely different location, in a different town.

On my last search a few weeks ago, I discovered on my way a few beautifully grown porcelain fungus.

I would have liked to spend more time with this one, but I really wanted to take some photos of another mushroom that I found earlier down the hill.

As the sky at the time of shooting was still very bright here and slightly outshining the fungus, I tried to darken the sky during the post-processing and put the mushroom more in the foreground. A flashlight helped me highlight the mushroom on the spot, and then I converted the shot into a black and white image.

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful waterfalls, lush forests and spectacular views. Wonderfully cool weather all year round. In addition, there are also several hill tribe villages along the way, where you have the chance to experience the local culture and traditions.

Thailand is home to several beautiful national parks that showcase the country's diverse natural beauty. The Doi Phu Kha National Park is located near the border between Thailand and Laos. The National Park is also home to the highest mountain peak and beautiful waterfalls. Sapan Waterfall, also known as Mae Charim Waterfall, is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush green mountains and lush natural landscapes. The waterfall is located deep in the mountains and is surrounded by lush tropical jungle, making for an enchanting landscape. The waterfall consists of several levels, with water flowing down large rock formations. Each tier of the waterfall offers great views and swimming opportunities. The sound of running water and the fresh mountain air create a serene and tranquil environment where you can relax and enjoy the natural beauty. To reach the waterfall, you must follow a path that winds through the lush jungle. It can be an adventurous journey, but the reward of reaching the waterfall is totally worth it. Along the way, enjoy the region's abundant flora and fauna, including exotic birds and wildlife. If you want to experience the beauty of nature and take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Sapan Waterfall in Nan Province, Thailand is a great destination to visit.

The crown of a massive “Broccoli Tree” (possibly Ceiba pentandra) emerges from the surrounding epiphyte-laden canopy of the cloud forest, Monteverde, Costa Rica.

Peering upward into the branch system of the tree, I was reminded of how nerve cells appear under the microscope, or at a slightly larger scale, how bronchial tubes bifurcate and eventually terminate into alveoli. Though trees and lungs are obviously very distantly related in an evolutionary sense, perhaps there is a common problem solved by these structures that is related to transport of substances through tissues.

Ginkgo trees burst with autumnal color in the 14th Street / Shaw / Logan neighborhoods in Washington, DC.

A lucky moment where a waterfall mist-filled sunlight shaft broke through the canopy throwing the shadow of a vine in a perfectly straight line down to the ground.

We went tent camping at Frozen Head State Park from Saturday, April 26th through Monday, April 28th.

Saturday evening we had: Ribeye Steak, Idahoan Mashed Potatoes and canned corn for dinner.

Sunday morning I heated up Banquet Sausage links and Great Value Egg makers. We made Breakfast burritos with some Shredded cheddar cheese and pickled Jalepaños. For lunch, I made Pudgy pies (campfire pizza on white bread; with Pizza sauce, Shredded Mozzarella cheese and Pepperoni slices ). And for dinner we grilled Chicken breast, Shrimp, White onion and Peppers. We made fajitas.

I captured a time-lapse of the charcoal grill heating up (fuel burning off the charcoal briquettes), two slow shutter clips of our campfire and a star trail of the tree canopy and night sky.

Monday morning we packed up our camping gear in the car. Then we hiked from the Panther Run Trailhead up to DeBord Falls and back to our Subaru. Then we drove home!

St. Augustine Lighthouse is located on the north end of Anastasia Island in St. Augustine, Florida. Built in 1874 of brick, the St. Augustine Lighthouse is 163 feet high making it the 8th tallest lighthouse in the United States today. It's all about the light.... finding it and following it to safe harbor. The light can be seen from 25+ miles out to sea. Today St. Augustine Lighthouse is run by the non-profit St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum Inc and is open to the public. Visitors can climb the 219 steps to the top for great views from this beautiful and fun tourist attraction. It was recently re-painted last year! Fun to visit!

[FYI: Tallest building in town is 6 floors = 60 feet.

This lighthouse, towers over that at - 163 feet high.]

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the day!

If you want to head out for a Sunday drive, I don't think there is a more scenic route than heading west on Highway 714 here in southeast Florida. Lush, tropical vegetation leads you to pastoral farm land, sugar cane fields, and wide open untamed spaces. Florida life perfection.

Nothing special about this...I just liked the simplicity of it,

San Juan Island National Historical Park, also known as American and English Camps, San Juan Island, is a U.S. National Historical Park owned and operated by the National Park Service on San Juan Island in the state of Washington. The park is made up of the sites of the British and U.S. Armies' camps during the Pig War. Both of these camps were set up in 1859 as response to a border dispute triggered by the killing of a pig. The camps were occupied for 12 years, until the Treaty of Washington was signed, negotiated by Kaiser Wilhelm I of Germany. The British abandoned their camp in November 1872, while the American camp was disbanded in July 1874. The site was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. The park is divided into two parts; an American Camp where US soldiers were stationed, and a British Camp, where the British Royal Marines established a garrison.

"Allium ursinum, known as wild garlic, ramsons, buckrams, broad-leaved garlic, wood garlic, bear leek or bear's garlic, is a bulbous perennial flowering plant in the lily family Amaryllidaceae. It is a wild relative of onion, native to Europe and Asia, where it grows in moist woodland." Wild garlic is edible and one of the easiest ways to use wild garlic is to whiz it up in a blender with toasted pine nuts, olive oil, parmesan and lemon juice to make a wild garlic pesto.
