HBW! Well these are the blossoms that come before the berries on this tree. I have no idea what kind of tree it is, and nobody I've asked did either.

This looks more like an aerial shot but it was taken from a road looking down on the snow covered valley. The graphic starkness of the trees peeping out against the canvas of the white snow, and the unusual angle attracted me to pull over the car. Sallygap, Wicklow Mountains, Ireland.

Appalachian Trail, between Bull's Bridge and Kent, Connecticut.
We hiked Schaghticoke Ridge yesterday to remove two trees (blowdowns) that had fallen across the trail. My next piece of work will be to re-blaze the inner section of this ridge (3 miles) . AT blazes are white paint, 2" wide by 6" tall.
This brook was completely dry most of this past winter which is unusual, it's usually the source of lots of ice photography. Because we've had such a weird winter with little rain, there is an abundance of leaves everywhere: on the trail and in streams. I shot about ten reflection images from different vantage points in two pools on this stream and while I'd usually attempt to just catch the surface (pure trees) it seemed like it might be nice to get leaves in the shot which give the reflection another dimension.
I have to say, all of my images taken this day with the Fuji X70 turned out extremely well. I like the richness of the Fuji files and I'm shooting JPEG only as I don't have a RAW converter yet for the camera. The camera's controls, like the Ricoh GR's are completely useable with thin gloves on and it feels like a very well made, sturdy tool in my hands.

Seen arriving at its start stop at Kingsbury is Arriva London PDL119. This Dart / Plaxton Pointer is the sole example at Garston garage and will be without any routes to run on from 1 September 2018. It's working the 305 route - something else that ceases to exist after this coming weekend.

Another shot of the mysterious Ohingaiti Boulders : these ones look like eggs with trees growing out of them... I can't find out much about them but apparently they are septerian concretions created over thousands of years under the sea. During the years undersea, these perfectly rounded boulders were probably slowly formed while been whisked around on the sea-floor with sea-shells, which dissolved and supplied minerals which hardened the surrounding material, created much like pearls are.
I know that the Maori consider the Moeraki Boulders ( very similar septerian concretions on the South Island coast) to be food containers. In Maori tradition these rocks are gourds and calabashes - traditional Maori food containers - washed ashore a thousand years ago when the great ocean going waka Araiteuru was wrecked on landfall...
But these ones are on the high central plateau of the North Island at the top off some cliffs, about as far away from the sea as you can get in New Zealand.
