This tree has somehow survived having the centre of its trunk burnt out completely into an arch shape which is big enough to crawl through.
Hope to return in a few months to see it with foliage.
Single hand held exposure taken (hanging over a gate) and tonemapped with Photomatix software.
Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens.

sooc, yes, the colors are natural :). Which makes me happy.
A pair of trees we saw every day while I was in Scotland, what they called the "kissing trees." The way they were entangled over the road was just so pretty, along with the pinkish sky that morning.
It is a bit blurry because I took it while in a van.
This red shouldered hawk made a tree-top landing approach at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Martin County, Florida. See this, and more, on my website at tom-claud.pixels.com.
Its not always the wider scene that catches the eye. When I noticed the light on the wall, farmhouse and fells I quickly pulled over the car and found a safe spot to take this shot. The long telephoto lens helped to compress the scene. Im constantly surprised and impressed at the sharpness of this lens, even when hand held like this
The sunlight was catching the needles so nicely!! Well, a girl has to do something while the old man has a golf lesson....

And the skies are not cloudy all day! Had a great time at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge. Who knew that buffalo could be happy and silly?

These apples are still on the tree. We spent Saturday driving backroads to the orchards in Gay Mills. We had to alter our normal route do to a washed out gravel road with a tree across it. The orchards are up on the ridge top, so are free from flood damage. I'm not sure how it affected this year's crops, though.

Update: September, 2010:
This photo remains at the top of my view many days of the year. I appreciate it being used, please include attribution or a link to this page, as requested by the Creative Commons license. At least leave the Watermark in place, that counts in my opinion.
I have seen this photo used twice by various online greenhouses/farmer's markets selling apple
trees that this photo does not represent.
