gingerbread tree house. i made this for an assignment in cake decorating class. the tree is pretzel dough, baked in pieces and glued together with melted sugar. windows are sugar, house is decorated with royal icing. plants/rocks/animals etc made with modeling chocolate, candy clay, gum paste, chocolate.

It's been a little while since my last long walk so it was a pleasure to be joined by 'soon to be son-in-law' George for a repeat of my last years walk from High Wycombe to Princes Risborough, made all the more interesting by finding a Zebra and taking a wrong turn in Hillock Woods and trying an unspecified short cut across the hillside to get back en-route and then losing our way through a wheat field - by the time we finished we had covered just under 17km

This 60-room site built on two ledges is one of the largest cliff dwellings in the park. Oak Tree House is a well preserved but fragile site that features plastered walls and varied architectural styles.

If you visit Mesa Verde, you must visit Spruce Tree House on Chapin Mesa. Spruce Tree House is Mesa Verde National Park's best-preserved and third largest cliff dwelling. It is the largest cliff dwelling visitors are allowed to visit without a formal tour ticket. Spruce Tree House was constructed between A.D. 1211 and A.D. 1278. The dwelling contains 130 rooms and 8 kivas built into a natural alcove. It is thought to have been home to about 60 to 80 people. It can be reached on a 1/2 mile round trip hike with a 100-ft descent and ascent on a winding path. It is open from 8:30 until 6:30 during peak season.
