Moored up on the quay beside the Coal Harbour are some of Dun Laoghaire’s small fishing “fleet”. It’s mostly crab, lobster, prawns and shellfish that’s brought in here.

Trawler’s Catch.

It is an unusual name but Saxamundham is an historic Market Town in Suffolk and today boasts a population of approximately 5000.

It is believed that the name Saxamundham is a derivative of the Saxon ‘Seizemond’s Home’ and it is recorded in the Doomsday Survey of 1086 in which three churches are mentioned.

It is also the home of Trawler’s Catch a traditional fish and chip shop.

Another night shot at the Launceston Seaport in Tasmania. This is a rare sight now, to see a working boat berthed in the shallow waters of the confluence of the Tamar and North Esk Rivers. This boat would normally ply the waters of Bass Strait some 60 kilometres to the north of here.

The commerical fishing industry is alive and well at Montauk Harbor. Most of the trawlers were gone by the time I reached this pier. I have no idea what they're trawling for, there are no signs or fishermen about to tell me. Will have to hang out until they return.

The wrecked trawler, Dayspring, at it's famous resting place at the head of Loch Linnhe near Corpach. We've a drought up here: a drought of sunshine. And a glut of rain. The opposite of everyone else it seems. Sunlight and water are imperative to life. But which would you rather go without? I think we will keep the water.

And it was into the water I headed. It was quite deep, the bottom obscured by a dense bed of sunken sticks and branches. They were slippery and really uneven to walk on and I was very cautious wading out deeper, just in case a crocodile popped up between the seaweed and sticks.

There were dark shadows too and I cursed that I had never bought a polarising filter. Anyhow I tried a five shot handheld pano, in portrait format to try and capture the foreground. Am ordering polarising filter now.

We all think that we have it tough at work from time to time, but these blokes are no doubt in another league when it comes to working conditions and danger. Photo taken at the northern Icelandic port of Olafsvik.

Taken at one of my local haunts, this viewpoint is looking across Chichester Harbour from Thorney Island towards Emsworth.

This snap has been sitting in my 'shall I post it' file for far too long now... but today's the day!

In an otherwise monochrome image, I have left this one little fishing trawler in its original pillar box red colour. This is of note because, as I recall, two days after I took this snap, that boat, along with several others, broke their moorings in a storm and ended up beached on the shoreline.

As one of the more photogenic boats in the harbour, this registered with me and it was a great shame. However a few days later it re-appeared on it's mooring but it had now been painted a slightly different colour. Obviously the owner saw a silver lining to that particular cloud and I'm guessing he took the opportunity to give it a makeover while it was beached.

So there you go, a historical and emotional reason for leaving the little red trawler in it's original colour!

Thanks for viewing as always.
