The Pont des Arts or Passerelle des Arts is a pedestrian bridge in Paris which crosses the Seine River. It links the Institut de France and the central square (cour carrée) of the palais du Louvre, (which had been termed the "Palais des Arts" under the First Empire).

Last new shots with the 2019 copyright watermark… I still don’t really understand why so many people repost photos at the end of the year. Post some new ones! And why repost the selection of photos that humans, or more likely software/computers/bots, clicked the like button the most times? Why not repost YOUR favorite photos you’ve shared? Here are 5 NEW photos for you. 3 from my travels this summer, and 2 from SF. We start off with a classic view of Portree on the Isle of Skye off the western coast of Scotland (I’ve posted similar shots before). Next, a Scottish landscape near the Eilean Donan Castle. Scotland has been my favorite country to visit of all so far (which is why I’ve been there 3 times), mostly because of the beautiful landscapes. Then a photo of sheep that looks like it could be Scotland, but is just across the England border at Hadrian’s Wall. Then a recent shot back in San Francisco of a classic Golden Gate Bridge at golden hour with an interesting framing. Lastly, something out of context for me, is a self-portrait, taken on black and white Kodak Tri-X 35mm film. Film is a new challenge for me, which is why I chose to include this. Hopefully more black and white film in the coming year. Happy new year, y’all!

Quoted from "http://travelguide.all-about-switzerland.info/kreuzlingen_stulrich_abbey_mount_calvary.html"

Located in a side chapel of St. Ulrich abbey, the Mount Calvary scenery is a unique example of Baroque spiritual artwork and local craftmanship. Spirituality in German speaking countries has always had a special affinity to suffering and to the dark aspects of religion, the cross is in the center of spirituality. The difference becomes obvious if you visit churches in France and even more so in Italy. Throughout northern Switzerland and Germany you will find traces of related topics like Dance of Death paintings from the late Middle Ages to the Baroque era. So the Baroque Mount calvary scenery at Kreuzlingen stands in a widespread regional tradition. It's typical for the region, but unique regarding size and quality of the artwork.

Originally the scenery consisted of some 320 figures. In 1963 fire destroyed 44 figures completely, other were severely damaged. During the following decades Hermann Kohler from Kreuzlingen restored many damaged figures and carved some destroyed figures playing a central role in the ensemble from scratch Two badly damaged figures are still being shown to remember the fire.

The Present day Punjab was created out of Punjab Province of British India that was divided between India and Pakistan. Homeland of the Sikh community of India, it is one of the most dynamic, homely and hospitable states. It’s a land of lush, green hilly areas and fields full of crops throughout the year represent rural India in a true sense.

One year ago, I was soaking up some classic Scottish Highland views. We had seen some the day before, but this was a full day in the Highlands. Even though it was my third visit, it was still wonderful and I’d go again in a heartbeat. We drove up to the Isle of Skye, stopping at the Eilean Donan Castle since it is right by the bridge. It was really too quick on Skye, though, with only a stop up in Portree, also serving as our lunch stop (I had spent a long weekend there a couple years prior). We stopped off a few times in the afternoon, as we headed back south, to take in the views. We ended the day in the pretty little town of Oban, which is right on the mainland coast, where we learned some classic Scottish dancing. Actually Oban seemed like it’d be a nice place to spend a few days. Here are three shots from the Scottish Highlands. A landscape from where I can’t remember, low tide at the Portree harbor, and the Eilean Donan Castle.

Two new Molskins today. A Madrid City Guide (in preparation for the Madrid section of mine & Beth's Morocco & Spain adventure) and a soft-covered ruled notebook for keeping in the ol' back pocket.

For tourists, Bangkok has a feast of attractions to offer. The city is dotted with 400 glittering Buddhist temples of great beauty and fascination, magnificent palaces, classical dance extravaganzas, numerous shopping centres and traditional ways of life, especially along the “Venice of the East” timeless canals and the Chao Phraya River of the “River of Kings” winding through the city. It is worth taking a trip along its waters before exploring further into different canals to take a glimpse of old Bangkok.

It’s extremely rare that I post a photo of myself, but here is a self-portrait taken at the labyrinth, in view of the Golden Gate Bridge, along the Lands End Trail, in San Francisco. This was closing in on sunset, so the light was a bit harsh, casting some strong shadows. I would have preferred to not have been in the photo, but that wasn’t possible. :) This is one of my favorite spots in San Francisco. You have to traverse a large set of stairs to reach this vantage point, but I think it is worth it.
