Had to get the train
From Potsdamer Platz
You never knew that
That I could do that
Just walking the dead
Sitting in the Dschungel
On Nürnberger Strasse
A man lost in time
Near KaDeWe
Just walking the dead
Where are we now, where are we now?
The moment you know, you know, you know
Twenty thousand people
Cross Bösebrücke
Fingers are crossed
Just in case
Walking the dead
Where are we now, where are we now?
The moment you know, you know, you know
As long as there's sun
As long as there's sun
As long as there's rain
As long as there's rain
As long as there's fire
As long as there's fire
As long as there's me
As long as there's you

It was cloudy and snowy morning at Nubra Valley. One can assess it by looking at those snow covered peaks of Karakoram Ranges

For lunch, we walked through V. Sattui's vineyard to get to their deli, which has decent if overpriced food and a picnic area that seemed perfect for the warm June day.

After we got back from the Mills Creek Falls trail, dehydrated and famished, we ate at the cafe at the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. Then it was back in the car to drive up Lassen Peak Highway (CA-89) through the park.
Along the way, we stopped; first at the Bumpass Hell parking lot, then at Emerald Lake, and finally at Lake Helen--named for the first woman to summit Lassen Peak and supposedly the snowiest place in California. Who knows if that is true. After all, you can't always believe what you read on the Internet.

Kinkakuji (金閣寺, Golden Pavilion) is a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf. Formally known as Rokuonji, the temple was the retirement villa of the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and according to his will it became a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect after his death in 1408. Kinkakuji was the inspiration for the similarly named Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion), built by Yoshimitsu's grandson, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, on the other side of the city a few decades later.

The Union House Hotel is the oldest continuously operated hotel in the area. The hotel was begun just one year after a catastrophic fire destroyed almost all of the older commercial buildings on Broadway. The fire consumed three of the city's older hotels, creating a demand for lodging that led Nicholas Altmayer to construct this hotel beginning in 1883. Two years later, Altmayer doubled the size of the building and in 1903 his son, Fred Altmayer, added a third story.

Union House Hotel is located in De Pere, Wisconsin. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The hotel was originally run by brothers Nicholas and Fred Altmayer. In 1918, August Maternoski purchased the building. Additions have been made to the hotel in 1885, 1903, 1918 and 1922. It the oldest continuously operated hotel in the area.

De Pere (pronounced locally as "dee-peer") is a city located in Brown County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 23,800 at the 2010 census. De Pere is part of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the arrival of the first European, Jean Nicolet, who visited the place in 1634–1635, De Pere was the site of a polyglot settlement of several thousand attracted by the fishing at the first rapids of the Fox River. In 1671 French Jesuit explorer Père Claude-Jean Allouez founded the St. Francis Xavier Mission at the last set of rapids on the Fox River before it enters Lake Michigan. The site was known as Rapides Des Pères (rapids of the fathers) which became modern day De Pere. Originally De Pere consisted solely of the community on the east side of the river; however, in 1890 the City of West De Pere, on the west side of the river, consolidated with the city of De Pere to form a single community. St. Norbert College, which abuts the banks of the Fox River on the city's west side near the Claude Allouez Bridge, was founded by Norbertine Abbot Pennings in 1898.

I remember at the time I took this that I almost DIDN'T take it. The colors seemed muted, it was quite steamy/foggy/moody, and also, I was quite tired. Maybe I was feeling a bit melancholy or something. Anyway, for whatever reason, I took it. And then, when processing, I recalled the melancholy mood and decided to give it a nudge in that direction.

Hearst Castle is indeed one of the most beautiful places in the world. It's just a trafficless hour north of LA, but it seems a world apart. It worked out as a perfect stopping-point for my little road trip from Hans Zimmer to Google!
I grabbed a lot of photos of this pool. And I mean a lot. I had great trouble in choosing the "best", and there are many winners that I will be sure to include in coming weeks, months, and years!
I wonder if WF Hearst ever had one of those crazy house parties with rap video girls dancing and grinding all around the edges of the pool? I can't imagine college girls doing jello shots and big floatees that have beer-holders. This is all just a tad too classy for that,

If you want adventure, Capitol Reef National Park is the place for it. The Burr Trail road, which features a set of switchbacks as you cross over Capitol Reef, then crosses through at least two other canyons.
Alas, my camera battery died, and so this was the last shot that I got. Which was really too bad, because the views along UT 12 from Boulder to Escalante were spectacular. So just try to imagine the earth ripped to shreds by canyons displaying reds and whites in interwoven layers, with the road sometimes being not much narrow than a ridge's spine.
Absolutely spectacular.
Heading north from Albuquerque and then through Santa Fe, it takes a while to get through all the people and the traffic before you break back out into countryside. It just seems like it is all sprawling development, which is weird because I was in Santa Fe about 10 years before and I remember it being a small, sleepy community. Either I missed all the mini malls back then or a lot has been built up in those 10 years.
When you finally do get away from the development and the small little communities, you get back into an eroded land of mesas and canyons and some really pretty red rocks. I don't know what it is, but red rocks are just cool.
#PortlandHeadLight is an iconic #lighthouse, along with the Keepers' Quarters that now houses the Lighthouse's museum. This lighthouse is not to be missed if visiting Portland, Maine, along with the stunningly beautiful shoreline of #FortWilliamsPark that surrounds it. Make sure to experience all the natural beauty and Treasures Of Traveling this park has to offer!
