Had to get the train

From Potsdamer Platz

You never knew that

That I could do that

Just walking the dead

Sitting in the Dschungel

On Nürnberger Strasse

A man lost in time

Near KaDeWe

Just walking the dead

Where are we now, where are we now?

The moment you know, you know, you know

Twenty thousand people

Cross Bösebrücke

Fingers are crossed

Just in case

Walking the dead

Where are we now, where are we now?

The moment you know, you know, you know

As long as there's sun

As long as there's sun

As long as there's rain

As long as there's rain

As long as there's fire

As long as there's fire

As long as there's me

As long as there's you

For lunch, we walked through V. Sattui's vineyard to get to their deli, which has decent if overpriced food and a picnic area that seemed perfect for the warm June day.

After we got back from the Mills Creek Falls trail, dehydrated and famished, we ate at the cafe at the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. Then it was back in the car to drive up Lassen Peak Highway (CA-89) through the park.

Along the way, we stopped; first at the Bumpass Hell parking lot, then at Emerald Lake, and finally at Lake Helen--named for the first woman to summit Lassen Peak and supposedly the snowiest place in California. Who knows if that is true. After all, you can't always believe what you read on the Internet.

Such simple and traditional silver jewellery are closest to some tribal ladies from the foothills of Central India.

Kinkakuji (金閣寺, Golden Pavilion) is a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf. Formally known as Rokuonji, the temple was the retirement villa of the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and according to his will it became a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect after his death in 1408. Kinkakuji was the inspiration for the similarly named Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion), built by Yoshimitsu's grandson, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, on the other side of the city a few decades later.

The Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park is a museum on the shore of Lake Erie in Buffalo, New York. It is home to several decommissioned US Naval vessels, including the Cleveland-class cruiser USS Little Rock, the Fletcher-class destroyer USS The Sullivans, and the submarine USS Croaker. Along with the ships, there are a variety of smaller vehicles, vessels, and aircraft on display at the park. The Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park is a 501(c) (3) corporation and was formed and incorporated as an educational institution in the state of New York in 1976 from the New York State Board of Regents. The Buffalo Naval Park takes you inside our nation’s military history with incredible tours of vessels, as well as fascinating exhibits and displays including historic documents, uniforms, military gear, photographs and much more. Plan your visit today and explore history like you’ve never seen it before. Buffalo Naval ParkIn 1976, in conjunction with the Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency, the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park applied to the Department of the Navy for a decommissioned naval vessel. The Navy agreed, and in 1977 donated the destroyer USS THE SULLIVANS — designated a National Historic Landmark by the Department of the Interior in 1986 — as well as the Guided Missile Cruiser USS Little Rock, to the City of Buffalo. The Park opened to the public in 1979 and included a Visitors’ Center, constructed with Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency funding. The Park acquired the WWII submarine USS Croaker (SSK-246) in 1988; in 2008, this submarine was added to the National and New York State Registers of Historic Places. In 2008, with funding from the Empire State Development Corporation, the Naval Park expanded and created an outside exhibit area along with a new museum building and gift shop. Over many years, the Park has obtained artifacts related to all branches of the Armed Forces. The Park’s collection today includes three naval vessels, an X-Ron 1 Rotocycle Helicopter, an Army M-41 tank, a Marine M-84 Armored Personnel Carrier, a UH1 “Huey” Helicopter, an Air Force F-101F Voodoo Fighter Interceptor Jet, a PTF-17 PT Boat, a Navy FJ-4B Fury Jet, and a P-39 Airacobra. In addition, there are extensive displays including Marine Corps memorabilia, Polish Armed Forces, Vietnam Veterans, models of military vehicles, and Western New York Medal of Honor Recipients.

Casa Batlló on Passeig de Gracia is one of the most awesome places in the world. My camera was very happy (and me, by extension).

This is one of Antoni Gaudi's masterpieces. That guy is amazing... It was certainly on my list to visit before the trip, and I did not really have enough time to spend there. And, I couldn't use the tripod, but I don't want to get into that discussion...just too frustrating.

"The Shaft" runs up the center of the casa. It reminds me of how each floor was a completely different visual experience. Taking photos in here was a challenge... I wanted to do the place justice.

Hearst Castle is indeed one of the most beautiful places in the world. It's just a trafficless hour north of LA, but it seems a world apart. It worked out as a perfect stopping-point for my little road trip from Hans Zimmer to Google!

I grabbed a lot of photos of this pool. And I mean a lot. I had great trouble in choosing the "best", and there are many winners that I will be sure to include in coming weeks, months, and years!

I wonder if WF Hearst ever had one of those crazy house parties with rap video girls dancing and grinding all around the edges of the pool? I can't imagine college girls doing jello shots and big floatees that have beer-holders. This is all just a tad too classy for that,

I had some time during the day while at NASA to visit the Kennedy Space Center. Inside was the insanely huge Saturn V rocket. It's one of those things that would hurt like hell if you dropped it on your toe.

The shuttle only has one more launch before it is forever mothballed, like this... The final launch of the Atlantis is on July 8, the first day of my 40th revolution around the sun. That's kinda cool I think...

On one ill-fated day, Ruby had to drive the team deep into Milford Sound on a photo expedition. The roads got worse and worse as the weather continued to falter. On the plus side, we had plenty of wine, which only made the trip more annoying for Ruby. This was also my first day testing out the Hasselblad, and I consistently came away impressed at the quality of the images.

Heading north from Albuquerque and then through Santa Fe, it takes a while to get through all the people and the traffic before you break back out into countryside. It just seems like it is all sprawling development, which is weird because I was in Santa Fe about 10 years before and I remember it being a small, sleepy community. Either I missed all the mini malls back then or a lot has been built up in those 10 years.

When you finally do get away from the development and the small little communities, you get back into an eroded land of mesas and canyons and some really pretty red rocks. I don't know what it is, but red rocks are just cool.

After the overly expensive and entirely unsatisfying breakfast, I nestled myself at the bottom of the ski runs for some action shots. I couldn't figure out which one was best, so I made a collage.

I'd been wanting to capture a bee. After many failed attempts among some poppies, I managed to get a few shots with the bee in focus.
