The Reichstag dome is an iconic glass dome constructed on top of the rebuilt Reichstag building in Berlin. It was designed by architect Norman Foster and built to symbolize the reunification of Germany. The distinctive appearance of the dome has made it a prominent landmark in Berlin.
The Reichstag dome is a large glass dome with a 360 degree view of the surrounding Berlin cityscape. The debating chamber of the Bundestag, the German parliament, can be seen down below. A mirrored cone in the center of the dome directs sunlight into the building. The dome is open to the public and can be reached by climbing two steel, spiraling ramps that are reminiscent of a double-helix.
As a 35mm Orwochrome UT18 colour transparency this shot of 08754 on Eastfield MPD on the 27th March 1976 did not have a lot going for it and was lucky to have avoided the waste paper bin forty odd years ago, even by my rather less demanding 1976 quality standards, This another one of my less successful efforts that has been salvaged somewhat by converting to black and white.
Locomotive History
08754 was originally D3922 and was built at Horwich Works, entering traffic in January 1961, allocated to Glasgow Corkerhill MPD. In April 1968 it transferred to Leith Central returning to Glasgow, at Polmadie in December 1969 and then Eastfield in April 1972. Following classified repair it was dual brake fitment at Glasgow Works in September 1975 and appears to have been loaned Haymarket in the spring of 1977 as I photographed it acting as Edinburgh Waverly station pilot. In November 1981 it moved north to Inverness and was to stay in Highlands for nearly twenty years. Sometime around 2000 it was sold to RT Rail and had spells at Bletchley and Tees Dock. By early 2006 it was at Wabtec, Doncaster and in April 2006 it moved to Whitemoor Yard at March where it would remain until October 2008 when it returned to Webtec, Doncaster. It then moved to Norwich Crown Point as a depot pilot and remained until 2017 when it moved to the Mid Norfolk Railway. It is currently (June 2020) at the Weardale Railway.

1959 vintage British Thompson Houston Type 1 Bo-Bo diesel-electric (TOPS Class 15) D8210 believed to be at Colchester - c.1970.
The locomotive was withdrawn on 27/03/1971 after just 11 years and 4 months in traffic.

I was editing this image of Blackpool illuminations and I didn't notice at first my wife did .There are people on the right that look ghostly but in full vision even on 8 second timer as the Tram goes past made this image more interesting.
