I shot this same gate a year ago, from a slightly different angle. Interesting (to me) how the light and water have made such a difference in the visual impact. FWIW -- I like this one MUCH better...
This is still from the hike last week, but I'm using it as a transition between the sky / dawn / reflections / insect series' into a different bunch of images.

Only today when uploading it I noticed the smooth transition from the left-side leaves to the right-side leaves of the trees. And I really like that part - hence the title...

This photo represents a transition into colder days, like late fall or early winter, as wearing scarfs, beanies, and gloves are common items that keep a person warm. I used adjustment brushes on the sky to turn down the exposure, because the sky was too bright. I also used more brushes on the beanie, scarf and gloves as an attempt to make it stand out more.

I got the book I ordered today from New Internationalist. Can't wait to spend a day curled up with it (or several days it's REALLY big!) and a cup of coffee. This is put out by a really great little magazine out of New Zealand that's hands down the best source of socially conscious news and analysis from the poor majority world. I think it's associated with the Third World Network, it's got just that kind of anti-imperalist perspective. All those assumptions those of us from rich countries take for granted are just blown away. These folks tell it like it is! I totally trust them to lead me to good work overseas that doesn't just follow the status quo. Check out their magazine. For real. You'll be blown away. www.newint.org
