One of the first planned transitional settlements, Santo 17 in the town of Croix-des-Bouquets was officially opened on 13 March and extends on 4.5 hectares and is expected to shelter 1,400 displaced individuals. Zone 1 and 2 of Santo 17 has (as of 26 March) 130 family tents provided by IOM.

Nothing's all that photogenic at the moment, as we're at that crossroads between Summer and Autumn. But it's not always a matter of photographing the idealised scenes. I took this down near the local pond, and there's a spectrum of natural colours from greens and yellows, through to dried up dead foliage. I think my idea was to try and show the transition of the seasons. Not much more to it as an image; but I like the colours.
The Vicenza Transition Summit was held at the Golden Lion and Teen Center on Caserma Ederle, April 22-23. There was a panel with leaders of industry and the military. There were workshops on a number of topics. Plus, the event finished with a job fair.
This pocket door from the kitchen to the east hall caused us some problems. The piece on the bottom of the door didn't leave enough room between the door and the flooring for the transition strip to fit. That's the wood laminate in the hallway and the cork in the kitchen.

The coastal town of Lincoln City, Oregon, has a lot to lose if nothing is done about climate change. The town sits 11 feet above sea level, and unchecked climate change could erode its beaches or flood the town.
Residents are taking matters into their own hands. “We could ignore it, let the federal government deal with it,” Mayor Lori Hollingsworth says. “We’re not willing to do that.” Last year Lincoln City committed to becoming carbon neutral through renewable energy, energy efficiency, and offsets.

Governor-elect Perdue's Transition Advisory Group on Aging met on Wednesday, November 19th at Western Wake Tech Community College in Cary.
Photos from STEP (Special Transitional Enrichment Program) Student Welcome. STEP is a summer bridge program that helps first generation college students, and/or students who participated in a UC Outreach program, develop skills that will improve their first-year performance at the University. This one month residential program provides transitional classes and skill development activities, along with intensive counseling and academic advising.
