This is my recycled fashion tree. This project was fun until it came time to work with technology. Thank goodness for young minds around me to help. I always tend to find myself falling back into a nature or organic state of being. I love being in a metropolitan area, but even more I enjoy being near plant and animal life. I have worked in the fashion field by way of hairdressing for the past 10 years and have enjoyed it. I am looking now to spend more time on the fashion side of the industry. Using my frighteningly large collection of fashion magazines, I decided to recycle them into my body transformation. Wouldn't it be nice if it were just as simple to create a tree out of our leftovers?
These were taken while i was helping my brother weld in our backyard. Every time that i look at the picture i get this feeling about how unreal it looks, for some reason it makes me think about creation of life. I think that i also did a great job with the colors in this photo, and had a great use of contrast.
Reflecting Transformation
The Caledonia
447 w 16th St NY 10011
June 19 - September 26, 2009
“Reflecting Transformation” was installed in the (yet to be leased) retail space of The Caledonia under the recently opened High Line Park. Inspired by the re-gentrification of the meat packing area and the renovation of the High Line, ”Reflecting Transformation” was organized to reference this urban regeneration and play on the theme of transformation of space and character. In a minimalist aesthetic, the exhibition also alluded to the healing nature that art can have on a community.
