I almost couldn't recognize him! We met the evening before and he looked way older with his beard! Aiman in a fresh look after we stopped for some tea on our way to Well Park from Dhaba.

Transformation Tuesday? Standard Signal Company mechanical dwarf has gotten a new GRS Spec with new lenses, still on the fence with the long porcelain blade that needs to be restored but for now it sports an unpainted rubber blade and has a GRS lamp. Now sits inside next to my US&S mechanical dwarf from Ohio.

Having spent nearly 90 mins in the cloud/mist/wet conditions, the fact that part of a view became visible was quite a revelation

This hasn't completely transformed yet into a frog. It reminded me of Charles Burns' graphic novel, "Black Hole" in which teens undergo scary transformation into monsters during puberty.

I had some time between professional engagements, and decided to visit the National Gallery of Canada. I was not disappointed.

This transformation mask was created by Marven Tallio, and reflects the traditions of the Nuxalk and Heiltsuk First Nations of Canada's Pacific coast.

Transformation masks have an important place in the spiritual and cultural ceremonies of many Pacific First Nations. They are perhaps best-known for their use during the potlatch, a gift-giving high feast employed to mark important occasions or diplomatic initiatives.

Canada's federal government banned the potlatch from 1848 until 1951. I understand that in recent years, there has been a resurgence in potlatches, as First Nations reclaim and reassert their heritage.
