The Times Square Transformation is a major capital project with one driving goal: to ensure that Times Square is designed to reflect the bold, cutting-edge spirit that has long-defined the Crossroads of the World while still catering to the needs and capacities of a 21st Century urban space. Beginning in 2012, the City will upgrade the infrastructure below Broadway and 7th Avenue and redesign the Broadway pedestrian plazas, turning what is now painted asphalt into a world-class piazza.
The plans for the Transformation have been designed by Snohetta, with consultation by the Times Square Alliance and the Department of Transportation.
Throughout the construction, the Times Square Alliance will provide real-time updates to Times Square residents, businesses, and other interested parties.

Poor little Holly! Seeing these "before" photos breaks my heart. I remember when I first found her in a container on the floor, at my local Salvation Army, I could hardly make out who she was. All her long red hair had become entangled around her thin body. Once I coaxed it out of the way, I was able to deduce that she was in fact a very awesome, Sugar Coated doll. What makes Holly's story even more depressing is the fact that she was more than likely not played with much. She had an elastic band wrapped around her arms (presumably to hold her necklace in place. There was no way she had ever been undressed. And since the rest of her general appearance looked mostly unscathed (minus the horrendous looking hair), I figure she was not ever played with...or not that much. Can you imagine what it would feel like to be a doll? I picture Holly sitting in her box at the store, eagerly awaiting the day a child takes her home. Once that glorious day comes, she is extracted from the package, used a few times, and then tossed aside unwanted. If her heart wasn't already broken, it completely shatters when she finds herself being dumped at a squalid charity store. Instead of being put in the hanging baskets with the other dolls for sale, she lays forgotten about in a container stuffed with plastic toys. Her once beautiful red mane strangles her, and the weight of the heavy talking toys and cars crushes her. She fears she will lose her limbs in the muddle, or maybe even break altogether. Luckily Holly's tale had a happy ending...

Eleionomae is a story about a lagoon, about coloured and ethereal backgrounds, about the transformation of a Nimph from a naive creature, to bewitching siren until she becomes a seductive witch. The colors and lights match the make up in this transformation, made of looks, faces framed by a mane of flowing hair and the background music pace that, like it does in the movies, leads us to the point of maximum adrenaline.

Poor Steve was a stowaway inside my Star Traveler Motorhome, which I purchased at the flea market in 2024. I spotted him and a Mod Hair Ken floating around the inside of the vehicle. Steve seemingly was in worse condition. One of his arms was off! But as I surveyed the interior, I noted the other arm. There was also a Stephie arm inside, but not the doll herself. Anyways, he was dressed in very odd attire--a girl's bodysuit and a piece of fabric held on as a skirt with a bobby pin. And of course he was coated in years of grime. The Star Traveler itself was absolutely abhorrent, so naturally the dolls were equally grimy. They also smelled a bit like maple syrup, like the vehicle.
Steve needed a super thorough scrubbing. I had to go over him entirely several times with more dish soap and baking soda. The crud was caked on! During the process, his arm popped out. So I ended up keeping it off for the duration of his makeover. I cleaned it separately, along with the arm that was already off. His legs are super loose too, but there isn't much I can do about that. As for his hair, it was still frizzy and mangy after a boil wash. My other Sunshine Family Steve has higher quality tresses. I had to resort to flat ironing this guy's hair. It was tricky due to how short it is. I also needed to trim up the very ends, which were uneven and still a tad dry after the flat iron. Luckily for this dude, I had a spare outfit in storage for him (actually two, so I chose the better one).

The 4th annual Toronto Park Summit took place on February 22nd at Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park.
This slideshow highlighted and celebrated our accomplishments in 2013.
Toronto Park People's Park Summit is the premier event celebrating and sharing the successes and opportunities of Toronto’s 1600+ parks. This year’s theme, Reimagine Our Parks, explored creative ways volunteers and partners can transform parks into the heart of their communities. 400 of Toronto’s most passionate park advocates and champions came together at the 2014 Toronto Park Summit.
The keynote adress was given by Adrian Benepe. Adrian was New York City’s Parks Commissioner under Mayor Bloomberg from 2002 to 2012. He is currently a Senior Vice President and Director of City Park Development for the Trust for Public Land, the world’s leading independent organization supporting the protection and enhancement of city parks. Adrian is one of the leading global experts on connecting the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in public-space development and management and his role with TPL is to provide advice on using partnerships to improve parks in cities across the US. As NYC’s Parks Commissioner, Adrian oversaw a renaissance in New York City’s parks system including adding 730 acres of parkland and overseeing such exciting new parks as the High Line, Battery Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Reimaging the Role of Our Parks. We featured and explored opportunities to reimagine parks with four park groups.

The summit concluded with remarks from Richard Ubbens, acting director of Parks, Forestry & Recreation with the City of Toronto, followed by a social and tour of the new Regent Park, opening this summer.
Members of the Regent Park Food Partnership took attendees for a one-hour walking tour of the Regent Park community. Regent Park is undergoing a massive transformation, which is being looked at around the world as a model by which challenged urban neighbourhoods can be re-imagined and re-created as healthy, sustainable communities. See and hear about the new state-of-the-art neighbourhood amenities (including the six-acre park!) that are at the centre of this transformation and are sure to be a destination for the entire City!

I've never just been a very spontaneous person... I must be going through some weird change in my life... While I was in the SOO I stopped at Day Maker's Salon and treated my self to the most AWESOMEST hair cut I've ever had. It was a last minute decision as my hair kept coming out of its pony tail and sticking to my sweaty neck... She was a very nice stylist and we had a lot in common to talk about AND she has curly hair too and knew just how to cut mine... When she was done The ladies in the front said she should have did before and after pictures cause it was such an awesome transformation, wish I could go to a salon and have an awesome transformation done to my body LOL.... I told Isabelle if I could just drop 50 pounds I'd be smokin' hot LOL... Anyhow We had a really fun and GREAT time, Isabelle and I... We were jammin in the car to some of her tunes on the iPod, she was laughing at me cause I was jammin with her and singing and being silly. You just need days like this once in a while!!!
