Nearly my last business transaction, as Trustee of my mother's estate, is to sell my mother's ring. It is so beautiful I hate to do it. However, the trust makes it explicit that it is to be sold. Such a shame. I don't even know where to start.
The lovely hand belongs to my daughter.

The Province releases the first set of data resulting from new measures to track the extent of foreign real estate transactions.
The data is drawn from the filings of Property Transfer Tax forms by purchasers of residential real estate in British Columbia between June 10 and June 29, 2016. The data represents a first, early look at the rate and value of purchases of residential property by foreign nationals—people who are neither Canadian citizens nor permanent residents.

Bitcoin Traces draws an infographic data-visualization of bitcoin transactions from the point when the currency is created by a miner until a particular transaction is made. To make a real world example, let’s say that a person buys a coffee and he or she pays with a 5 € bill. The 5 € bill was earned in the company he or she works for, which in turn the company earned from their clients and their clients from other clients, and so on until the money is created by the European Central Bank.
The process begins by picking a transaction as a starting point, analysing which was its source transactions and draws a line for every wallet involved in this transaction. As we progress in time we draw these transactions further away from the center, producing a radial shape. When we reach the transaction where a set of bitcoins were generated we won’t be able to explore further, so we draw this line in red. In this set of drawings we can appreciate when the transactions have been processed by anonymization techniques like Coinjoin in the form of darker rings and that most of the bitcoins are mined by few big pools in the form of long red lines.
This kind of analysis wouldn’t be possible to do with Euros since we don’t have access to the ledger’s book as we do in bitcoin and blockchain. What makes bitcoin interesting from an artistic point of view is that processes like transactions are public while in the wider world economic transactions are only known by governments and banks, and are kept outside the scrutiny of society.
What transpires is a new way of seeing money, deprived of its materiality. Considering money as a network where each node is a good or a service and each edge a transaction with which it participates. These graphs can also be read in the opposite direction. Starting from the ‘mined’ bitcoins, the origin of which are a set of numbers that have no utility, but by consensus has been decided to give them a value by generating bitcoins and using them as a foundation to build a structure of consumption and exchange.
Washington, D.C. – With the latest showdown over the government shutdown and debt limit finally over and the next budget fight beginning, a coalition of healthcare, community, faith-based, and labor activists call on Congress members Wednesday, October 30 to shift the tone from austerity budget cuts to expanding revenues with a small tax on Wall Street speculation that can bring hundreds of billions of dollars into the budget to help rebuild our economy.
The Robin Hood Tax campaign, endorsed by more than 160 local and national organizations, precede the lobby effort with a march to the Capitol, and a briefing for members of Congress and the media. In July 2013 Carey Watermark Investors Inc. purchased a 75% joint venture interest in the 226-room Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn resort from Fairmont
Hotels & Resorts in a transaction valued at an aggregate $82 million: $76.6 million purchase price plus $5.4 million in renovations and acquisition
cost.
CWI's interest in the joint venture is 75 percent while Fairmont will retain a 25 percent ownership interest. The joint venture's total investment in
the property is approximately $97.1 million, which was financed with $44 million of debt. CWI's investment is approximately $73.3 million, including
its allocated portion of debt. The first phase of an approximate $10.7 million renovation is nearing completion and includes the updating of all
Heritage Rooms, a complete redesign of the lobby and fine dining room, Sante, as well as the creation of a new lobby bar. Additional work is planned
over the next two years including the spa.
Carey Watermark Investors is W. P. Carey’s non-traded REIT that was formed to take advantage of current and future opportunities to invest in the
lodging industry and lodging-related properties.
Carey Watermark Investors Inc. owns other significant hotels such as the - Holiday Inn Manhattan 6th Avenue New York, NY; Lake Arrowhead Resort &
Spa Lake Arrowhead, CA; Hyatt French Quarter New Orleans, LA; and the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North Atlanta, GA.
The transaction comes just over one year after Fairmont acquired the remaining stake in the Mission Inn from Crescent Real Estate Equities L.P.
Fairmont has been hotel's management since 2002, when the company acquired a 19.9% ownership position in the property and took over management.
Michael Medzigian, CEO of CWI, said in a prepared statement.“Given the strong market and the high barriers to entry, we believe that this investment
is consistent with our strategy of sourcing and investing in opportunities where we can joint venture with owners to maximize the current value of
the asset, create a solid financial platform for future operations and achieve attractive risk-adjusted returns for our investors,”

Crescent Real Estate Equities, an investment trust, bought the property in 1996. Crescent defaulted on a $55 million loan in 2011. The resort was
scheduled for a foreclosure auction in Santa Rosa in January, 2012 but was pulled from the sale by lenders. Fairmont Hotels acquired full ownership
of the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, at an undisclosed price. The resort was reportedly listed for $100 million. Jennifer Fox, Fairmont
President said “We believe the timing is right to support strategic acquisition opportunities and fund future growth of our brand.”
During World War II the hotel was controlled by the Navy and became an “R&R” site for sailors and marines until 1945.
Rick Corcoran's is the current General Manager at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. He previously was the Hotel Manager at the Fairmont Hotel
Vancouver and the Director of Food and Beverage at Fairmont San Francisco.

European activists gathered in the halls of UN climate talks in Doha. On 4 December, European finance ministers are meeting to discuss and maybe vote on implementation on a financial transaction tax for 11 European countries. Activists want a good % of this revenue will go to climate finance.
Every transaction needs to be coded or categorised into groups so the totals of each can be set out clearly in the financial accounts of your organisation when calculating your profit and other reports.
