Description: Dr. Jere M. Pound, Second President, 1933-1935. Pound, an old friend of Powell's assumed the presidency in July of 1933. His background was education and teacher training, from school principal to director of GSCW in Milledgeville to president of Georgia's State Normal College in Athens. His health only allowed him to work for one year, and he left on sick leave in 1934. He died in February of 1935.

I can tell that Puffin is remembering that there's a second bumper as she heads back to me.
I took my camera and long lens training today, which inevitably ends up with my whistle and camera strap getting all tangled up together, not to mention bopping dogs on the head with the lens as I lean over to take the bumper...... but I did get a few nice photos.

It's the day that things become reality....the day an envelope arrives in the mail reminding you of your puppy's matriculation date, the day you try to forget, but will be on your mind from now on. This is the difficult day when that sweet puppy you received at 8 weeks old will be turned in for another 6-9 months of formal training at Canine Companions for Independence, the next step in their journey to becoming a service dog for someone with a disability. I receive envelopes all the time from CCI, usually asking for a donation (they are a non-profit organization that provides the dogs to their graduates at no charge, so they rely on donations to fund their program), so I didn't think of it when I opened that envelope a few days ago. But I got the notification...Patrice's matriculation date will be in November. My job is almost done, but she will be continuing the journey and it will be up to her to decide if being a Service Dog is for her. Until then, I will continue to train her, socialize her, and love her to help prepare her for that day that we have to say goodbye...

I don't know why this kid was smiling so much, probably because I was obnoxiously taking everyone's picture (still not brave enough.) He broke form and shot a glance over, it was hilarious.

I am working on making a large ninja/assassin school and was playing around with their unifroms.
Any suggestions/improvements?
The first cohort of the Washtenaw Community College Campus Emergency Response Team practiced their final training March 5. The drill placed WCC faculty and staff in rooms where they had to locate and assess injuries which they would relay to professional responders.
The Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a summer youth work program in federally managed lands. The National Park Service, US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service and Bureau of Land Management employ teens each summer to participate in the YCC.

A group of 46 DMPS teachers and leaders began training in June to become certified Guided Language Acquistion Development (GLAD) Educators.
Throughout August these educators have participated in GLAD demonstrations, and on Tuesday, August 2nd they observed teaching strategies at Hillis Elementary School with summer school 3rd and 4th grade students.
Throughout the rest of the week they will observe in the back of the classroom while DMPS GLAD trainers model strategies for teaching. This group will join about 150 previously GLAD trained educators in DMPS. GLAD strategies promote language acquisition, high academic achievement and 21st century skills.
