I don't really know much about this building, as there doesn't appear to be much information about it readily accessible on the Internet, but I have passed it several times in the past week as I've been travelling to work a different route to usual.
It's near the big roundabout in Wandsworth, and is part of an area called Plantation Wharf right next to the Thames.
It is fairly unusual in its design compared to most other tower blocks in the area so I thought it was worth trying to take a snap or two for posterity.
Easier said than done, due to its height and the fact that it is pretty much surrounded by buildings which preclude one from being able to capture it in its entirety, even with my 17mm tilt shift Canon lens. When I was in a doll collector’s club, we had “Buy, Sell, and Trade” about 4 times a year at our meetings. Charlotte wears a dress I got at one of those sessions. 👗

One World Trade Center during a visit in 2014 shortly after construction was completed.
It's a spectacular building, but I am still fond of the original twin towers.
The iconic twin towers of downtown Manhattan’s World Trade Center were a triumph of human imagination and will. Completed in 1973, the towers stood at 110 stories each, accommodating 50,000 workers and 200,000 daily visitors in 10 million square feet of space. They were the hub of the bustling Financial District, a top tourist attraction and a symbol of New York City’s–and America’s–steadfast devotion to progress and the future. On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center became the target of a massive terrorist attack that took the lives of nearly 3,000 people. The disaster also radically altered the skyline of New York City, destroying the twin columns of glass and steel that over the years had come to embody the city itself.
World Trade Center: A Dream Is Born
The 1939 New York World’s Fair included an exhibit called the World Trade Center that was dedicated to the concept of “world peace through trade.” Seven years later, one of the exhibit’s organizers, Winthrop W. Aldrich, headed a new state agency with the proposed goal of creating a permanent trade exposition based in New York. Market research indicated that the city would benefit more by modernizing its ports, however, and the plan was soon scrapped.

Most of you know how I first came across Barbie as a very young child at my Mum’s work Christmas party, where they had a whole table full of old leftover stock ‘Trade-in TNTs’ from the Mattel headquarters down the road, that they gave away to the daughters of staff, while I got a stupid TV board game. It was the only time in my life where I really wished that I was a girl! LOL I think that also started my life-long Barbie obsession. And even though I have amassed quite a few lovely TNTs for my collection, I never had one of those ‘Trade-In’ gals…. until now. And what’s more, she is in my favourite hair colour, that deep, rich ‘Chocolate Bon-Bon!’ She came in her ‘baggie’ and her hair cello was still on, (you can just make it out in the photo with her OSS and box, lying near her feet,) so she was virtually unplayed with … her hair and ribbon bow are perfect! (Though I had to remove that cello as it was starting to actually stick to the back of her hair!!!) She’s not totally minty perfect as parts of her have faded somewhat , and she was missing her wrist tag, but it was SO great to finally fulfil a childhood longing… only took 45+ years! :P I decided to dress her in my favourite ‘Pajama Pow’ which looks so great with that hair bow! (I have the original yellow flats but changed it up with some orange bowed flats… the groovy pink belt is Becky’s!)
Now, you probably all also know about Mattel coming up with that genius trade-in program to launch their new Twist ‘N Turn Barbie in 1967, where one could trade in their old Barbie doll for this gal for less than half price... It was a massive success. Both Charlotte and Liam have leopard printed jackets. So, what if they changed it a bit?! Charlotte seems really happy with the ears on Liam's jacket. Liam, on the other hand, doesn't seem that happy wearing pink. (well, he never looks happy anyway =p )

- WANTS/HAVES format only. Quote your haves, or better, tag me on a pic. All messages which don't stick to this format will be at best ignored, at worst deleted.
- I'm from Europe Which means you might have to ship overseas if we trade... So if it is a problem for you, don't bother commenting... You and I will save time.
- I'm not shipping first anymore. I'm waiting for your package and have yours sent in the next 24 hours after receipt. If you want delivery confirmation packages, it's not a problem for me.
- If I'm making wants lists/pics it's for a good reason, please stick to the things I ask or to the kind of items I like (which you can easily identify in my stream).
- If I want something from you, I comply with your rules. If you want something from me, you comply with mine...
- Any questions, please ask, I don't bite :-) it's just that I'm both taking and doing this more seriously than many...
