A rarity on this line? I don’t recall any HST’s along this, but I expect some would have been diverted along here at some point.

This screenshot shows the distribution of photos (y) vs. members (x) in a sample of public Flickr groups. You can click on the note attached to the red dot to visualize the real graph. This is to announce a new feature added to the latest version (0.4) of Group Trackr.

Different graphs are now available displaying comparative statistics for currently tracked groups. Please note that only groups with at least one day of tracked activity are displayed in these graphs.

Hopefully these graphs can help discover some meaningful patterns in the Flickr universe.

This feature provides statistics similar to those collected by gustavog (who must be credited for this intriguing idea) in January 2005 (although Group Trackr data refer to a smaller sample, updated on a daily basis).

The latest version of Group Trackr (0.6) features full activity reports: new graphs are available displaying the overall activity of a group (cumulative growth and daily variation) since it has been tracked. If your group has more than 10 days of tracked activity, full activity reports can be displayed following the link in the advanced reports section. Check it out!

Finally able to test the GiSTEQ Photo Trackr in the woods. Today we traveled to a place in the North Georgia Mountains that we found more than 20 years ago. It is very remote and deep in the Lake Burton Wildlife Management Area. If you like primitive camping in the woods this is the best place I have found in GA that is accessable by vehicle. We took the GiSTEQ Photo Tracker to see how it would perform while hiking in the woods. It worked great. I placed the unit in my shirt pocket and off we went up the fire roads. We came across this nice little waterfall during the adventure of the day. After we got home I downloaded the data file from the tracker and now I can see exactly where we were in those woods when I took each shot. This is what GeoTagging is all about.

As far as the photo goes, it has a bit of a lens flair that ended up at the bottom of the photo and in the leaves of the rhododendron at the top of the falls. I was working without a tripod so this was what I ended up with.

Re-edited due to purple hue in the tint of the windows of the Integra..

After months of letting this GPS fob lie dormant in a drawer, today was a chance to give the Gisteq Photo Trackr a trial.

Last time I tried in January, the software never recognized the device, but with a new driver and the latest version of the software I ought to be able to use it.

The Trackr records GPS location and time contunously, and by matching to the date/time in the camera, it should be able to provide geo location data.

However the free version of the software only works with JPEG images, and I shoot RAW with my DLSR, so I am testing with my pocket camera.

The process is loading photos onto the computer, then runing it through the Trackr sotfware which is supposed to modify the JPEG files with latitiude and longitude. So then its a two step process to do this and then load into Aperture or iPhoto.

Not sure if I got data today on my short mailbox walk- the Trackr battery was dead my thr time I returned.

Re-edited due to harsh blue reflections on the door and sight of yellow pole by the back end of the car..

Found a great new spot for some fresh photo's.
