The extra backs down the siding to the waiting string of stored cars. A handful of these cars will be selected and brought east, the others will have to settle for knocking some of the rust off the wheels. October 10, 2019.
Decades ago, I crossed these very same tracks daily (Monday to Friday) for five years on the way to Britannia Secondary School in East Vancouver.

Drilled a viewhole to monitor the tracking once the cover is on. Its not realy neaded for the blade stays where it is tracked, but its a nice touch.
Also made the knob to adjust the blade guide.

The tracks of the former Erie Railroad in the Warren-Youngstown area still remain in bits and pieces. In some places the rails are gone while in others they remain in place but are clearly not longer used or used infrequently. Shown is the remnants of the Erie mainline between Leavittsburg and Youngstown. Technically, this was part of the line that began in Cleveland and the mileposts were marked as such.
Carver County MN 2010
The sunset illuminates the tracks and the rails glow.
Remnants of an old silo can be seen off to the right.
Railroad tracks are four foot, eight and one half inches wide.
No Photoshop.
Broad Street Station (AKA Union Station) platforms with tracks partially removed at Richmond, Virginia, June 1976. This beautiful old station was last used by Amtrak in 1975, however, Amtrak trains then moved to the Staples Mill Road Station located on the RF&P mainline. This station was originally constructed in 1917 for the RF&P, but was also used by the ACL and N&W. Eventually the SAL switched from using the Main Street Station located in the downtown area to this station. Finally the station was later used by the SCL and Amtrak. Today this station building is home to the Science Museum of Virginia. On the right side of the photo in the middle is a couple of fellows with a mechanical spike pulling machine performing their task.
