msh april 2008- vanishing point

Went down by the railroad tracks last night because why not!? But it brought back so many old memories, both good and bad. A lot of decisions, memories, and heartaches were made down by these railroad tracks. It was really eerie to walk down there alone for the first time... "And it made me long to be with you one more time"

Los Angeles, CA

These are snail tracks on the sidewalk left from the the previous evening's activities. These track are dried snail slime. (Now you know the next time you see this.) This means the lawn (a neighbor's) is highly infested with snails and slugs (these are the most tracks I've seen in a given area). Lawn care is needed if a flower or vegetable garden is nearby (I love these little creature, but not when they are eating my tender shoots)! This dried slime is quite transparent, but very reflective, if you shoot it at the right angle. This was photographed early in the early morning, and I am picking up the reflections and underexposing in order to created contrast between the sidewalk and the dried reflective slime.

Weekends are kind of slow, so I will often use them to exhibit "stock photos" like this instead of "pretty" pictures -- images that I license to agencies -- in this case to show a need for lawn care.
