Colourful stage set up. Canary Wharf, London.

Canary Wharf, London.

The sky turned grey very quickly. Five minutes later the heavens opened. Fortunately I got to Limehouse Station just in time.

From the public roof garden above the new Elizabeth Line station at Canary Wharf. A break in the cover mid point affords views of the surrounding buildings.

On a boat underneath Tower Bridge as two planes fly over it.

...for an age, standing in the mud, for someone to appear on the viewing platform but to no avail.

London – In and around Brick Lane

This collection of images was taken in and around Brick Lane, London. This is an area full of New and Old Architecture, markets, people, graffiti, doors, churches and much more. I’ve posted a selection of items taken in October 2018. This is the second of a number of postings.

Millwall Park, Isle of Dogs, London. Replica of a sculpture and fountain by Frank Dobson which was vandalised and destroyed on an estate in Whitechapel during the 1970's. This replica by Antonio Lopez Reche, albeit with no fountain, now sits peacefully in Millwall Park.

Dusk over London as seen from the Shard. This view looks out over City Hall and Tower Bridge, past Wapping on the North bank and Rotherhithe on the South bank, across to Canary Wharf, and on to the Thames Barrier behind. This was shot just as the lights started to turn on across the city.

Bow Creek Lighthouse, Trinity Buoy Wharf - London`s only Lighthouse.

Trinity Buoy Wharf, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, is the site of London's only lighthouse, by the confluence of the River Thames and Bow Creek, at Leamouth. The lighthouse no longer functions, and is the home of various art projects such as Longplayer. It is sometimes known as Bow Creek Lighthouse.

In 1803, the site came to be used by The Elder Brethren of Trinity House which is now known as Corporation of Trinity House, and the seawall here was reconstructed in 1822, built by George Mundy of Old Ford. The site was used as a maintenance depot, and storage facility for the many buoys that aided navigation on the Thames; and the wharf for docking and repair of lightships.

The original lighthouse was built by the engineer of Trinity House, James Walker, in 1852, and was demolished in the late 1920s. The surviving lighthouse was built in 1864-6 by James Douglass for Trinity House. It was used for lighting trials for Trinity House's lights around England & Wales. Michael Faraday also carried out experiments there. The pair of lighthouses were used for training prospective lighthouse keepers

Wilton's Music Hall is a variety theatre in the Shadwell and Wapping area of East London in Graces Alley off of Cable Street. Originally opened in 1859 the auditorium holds 300 and the grade II listed building has preserved its Victorian charm.

The super yacht owned by Shahid Khan valued at $360 million and has annual running costs of $30 million. Built by Lürssen Yachts, headquartered in Bremen, Germany,

Shahid Khan owns the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and the Premier League's Fulham Football Club. He has owned multiple superyachts named Kismet, with the current one delivered in 2024. He has dual USA and Pakistani nationality.

He won't get as far as Craven Cottage (Fulham's riverside West London ground) in a boat this size due to low bridges. Maybe he'll catch a bus for the last bit!

Taken on one of the several snow days last winter in London from the Tower of London, I was surprised when I uploaded this picture at how the Shard looked like it was on fire.
