It is necessary to take a photo like this every time we visit. Approaching the top from the dark side.

The Tor is the first place I visited in Glastonbury after my trip to Uffington. This sacred hill has many legends and myths attached to it. St. Michael's Tower is what is left of the 2nd church built there - destroyed by an earthquake. According to legend, this is the isle of Avalon, previously surrounded by water. It's been a place of ritual and pilgrimage for thousands of years for Pagans and Christians alike. In the channeled book "Anna - grandmother of Jesus" that I'm reading, Yeshua went there with his uncle Joseph of Arimethea (a frequent visitor and druid) for one of his many initiations.

As for me, I walked up that first late afternoon to connect to the sky and the distant scenery. I was back for a sunrise ceremony during the Goddess Conference with the priestesses of Freyja and then was blessed with seeing it alight with the sunset fires while sitting in contemplation at the Chalice Well Gardens. In the last 2 photos, you'll see the tiny tower the next morning from the same contemplation spot as the sun rose hot in the heavens.

Another part of this lovely tor. A different aspect. Thanks to Paul Buck for dragging me here after so many years.

Berlin Brandenburger Tor 20101114

Berlin [1] is the capital city of Germany and one of the 16 states (LƤnder) of the Federal Republic of Germany. Berlin is the largest city in Germany and has a population of 4.5 million within its metropolitan area and 3.4 million from 190 countries within the city limits. Berlin is best known for its historical associations as the German capital, internationalism and tolerance, lively nightlife, its many cafes, clubs, and bars, street art, and numerous museums, palaces, and other sites of historic interest. Berlin's architecture is quite varied. Although badly damaged in the final years of World War II and broken apart during the Cold War, Berlin has reconstructed itself greatly, especially with the reunification push after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. It is now possible to see representatives of many different historic periods in a short time within the city center, from a few surviving medieval buildings near Alexanderplatz, to the ultramodern glass and steel structures in Potsdamer Platz. Because of its tumultuous history, Berlin remains a city with many distinctive neighborhoods

The Brandenburger Tor is a monumental gate built in the 18th century as a symbol of peace. During the Cold War, when the gate was located right near the border between East and West Berlin, it became a symbol of a divided city.
