This topic is near and dear to me. As a victim of cyber-bullying I understand how it can change your life.

The wounds on the inside take longer to heal than wounds on the outside do. They hurt more, they last longer, they alter who you are. Though it always makes you feel the way I look in this pic.

At the end of the loch in Clais Fhearnaig, which was my lucnh spot for the day, is this dreamy waterfall. Lovely sat there, out of the wind, in the sun with the water bubbling over the rocks.

An old autumn leaf covered in tiny frosty ice crystals highlighting the veins.

Getting up one very frosty morning, I found this amazing structure about 2 inches high, growing from the birdbath. Completely round it looks like a frozen tornado, or whirlpool.

I'm so obsessed with the way this top and this eyeliner look together! I'm glad I put this outfit all together hehe..

Climbing the slopes of Conachcraig, the deep Glen behind us leads to the snowy wintry slopes of Lochnagar. Clouds are over the snowy mountains in the distant Cairngorms.

Conachcraig is a Corbett standing at 865 meters (2837 feet). A Corbett is a Scottish mountain between 2500 and 3000 feet high, with at least 500 feet of descent on all sides.

The first time I came to Flickr I was literally amazed by the topic of "texture". I didn't know what they were and I thought that there were only applications that made the "texture" effect. When I then discovered here what they could give a photo and the "transforming" power, I was thrilled to learn how to use them.

It's like painting on layers of oil or a smooth sheet of paper or a sheet of metal or....endless techniques that a painter can use live.

You can add oil to your painting, but you can prepare a primer for painting on top....

The first textures I met here were those of Lenabem Anna J. to whom I must say a lot of thanks.

My works also came out of the textured landscape, but the layered discourse started from here.

I wanted to play with a beautiful texture of Anna that I found these days, this one:

These three sequential works show how much you can vary with the same texture the same image

After making it up to the ridge we now follow this deer fence up to our first sub-summit of Broom Hill, then it's a small climb from there to reach Pressendye.

Pressendye is just a small Graham of 620 meters (2034 feet), but a 15 Km (9 mile) circuit definitely stretched the legs.

Ben Macdui is the UK's 2nd highest peak (second only to Ben Nevis) and stands at 1309m (4294ft). After descending from this Munro we make a climb to the 2nd Munro of the day, Carn a' Mhaim (pronounced Carn-ah-Vame) at 1037m (3402ft).

peony, (genus Paeonia), genus of about 30 species of flowering plants (family Paeoniaceae) known for their large showy blossoms. All but two species are native to Europe and Asia, and several species are cultivated as ornamentals and for the floral industry.

European common Peony

garden peony

There are three distinct groups of peonies: the herbaceous Eurasian peonies, the Asian tree, or moutan, peonies, and the North American peonies. The herbaceous peonies are perennials that grow to a height of almost 1 metre (about 3 feet). They have large, glossy, much-divided leaves borne on annual stems produced by fleshy rootstocks. In late spring and early summer they produce large single and double flowers of white, pink, rose, and deep crimson colour. The fragrant Chinese peony (P. lactiflora) and the European common peony (P. officinalis) have given rise to most of the familiar garden peonies. P. lactiflora has provided hundreds of cultivated varieties, including the Japanese types, with one or two rows of petals surrounding a cluster of partially formed petals in the centre (petaloid stamens).

The tree peonies are shrubby plants with permanent woody stems. The plants sometimes attain a height of 1.2 to 1.8 metres (about 4 to 6 feet). They begin flowering in late spring. The blossoms vary in colour from white to lilac, violet, and red. Tree peonies require a hot dry summer season for best growth, and they can be grafted in late summer or autumn on the roots of herbaceous peonies. Horticultural varieties have been developed from the Chinese species P. suffruticosa. A race of hybrids, developed by crossing P. suffruticosa with the yellow Chinese P. delayavi, has both single and double flowers, sometimes tinged with red. Many varieties have been grafted onto supportive rootstock and so cannot be readily propagated by simple division. Peonies are seldom grown from seeds except in breeding programs; the seed takes about two years to germinate.

Two peony species are native to North America. Brown’s, or western, peony (P. browni) ranges from California to Montana, and California peony (P. californica) is found only along the Pacific coastal mountains of California and Mexico.

My brother Georg (right) and me (left) in the ruins of Cologne.

Like most people, we were so poor shortly after World War II.

That's why Georg has a shovel and I only have a spoon.

The ruins were an exciting adventure playground for us.

The picture was taken by our father or grandfather.

I used a Canon Scanner, the original picture is only

Just returned from a visit to my second home (Portugal) and I'm busy culling more than 1500 photos taken during the trip.

I found myself shooting more 'abstracts and graphics' than usual (the above photo a case in point)... must have been the mood I was in? I did visit the coastline almost daily so there are many seascape images to consider for development but even those tended to take on an abstract character (influence of Hiroshi Sugimoto perhaps?). I did considerably less street work than I usually do when in Portugal but that was simply because I wasn't out on the streets that often. That circumstance and the fact that I have become aware that European laws prohibit taking people pics without their explicit permission has dampened my zeal for street photography in Portugal (somewhat).

The title is from a quote by Harry Callahan ... a favourite photographer of mine. A few other photos inspired by Callahan are in the first comment box. To learn more about him just click Harry Callahan or Harry Callahan

Saw this in Highgate Cemetery. I don't know who this lady was, only that her name was Martha as spelled out in pebbles in front of the grave, but she either really liked lamps or was afraid of the dark, but either way, what a beautiful way to decorate your grave.

A long weekend in London sees us staying at this hotel, with fine views of St. Katherine's Docks on the Thames and City of London beyond.

A cluster of tiny white fungi grow from the side of an old tree stump. I have no idea what they are so any fungus experts able to provide an ID would be appreciated.
