Patterns in Nature is the topic for Macro Mondays, July 15th

~~~ You'll remember me when the west wind moves upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky as we walk in fields of gold
So she took her love for to gaze awhile upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down among the fields of gold..... ~~~
This lovely old wooden house with timber shingles and simple shutter dogs / shutter tiebacks I discovered on our holidays in the Allgäu region of Germany
When I read the topic, I immediately remembered the rabbit lattice that I had stowed behind the pile of stones – when tidying up in the garden. Good that I had not cleaned it. No, it's not contaminated with rabbit's gut. We had no rabbits at all ;-) Lastly, it served to make it difficult for the marten to get into the engine of our car. Whether that helped, I do not know exactly – luckily there were no gnawed cables any more ... And a few tiny plant remains stuck obstinately at the grid. Perfect for a macro ;-)
Als ich das Thema las, erinnerte ich mich doch gleich an das Kaninchengitter, das ich neulich hinter dem Steinhaufen verstaut hatte – beim Aufräumen im Garten. Gut, dass ich es nicht sauber gemacht hatte. Nein, es ist nicht mit Kaninchendreck verunreinigt. Wir hatten überhaupt keine Kaninchen ;-) Zuletzt diente es dazu, es dem Marder schwer zu machen, in den Motor unseres Autos zu gelangen. Ob das geholfen hat, weiß ich nicht so genau – es gab zum Glück keine angenagten Kabel mehr ... Und ein paar winzig kleine Pflanzenreste hielten sich hartnäckig am Gitter fest. Perfekt für ein Makro ;-)
A very old and well preserved courtyard outside the kitchens of King Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace in London
After making it up to the ridge we now follow this deer fence up to our first sub-summit of Broom Hill, then it's a small climb from there to reach Pressendye.
Pressendye is just a small Graham of 620 meters (2034 feet), but a 15 Km (9 mile) circuit definitely stretched the legs.
Cologne is also known for its green belt and many parks ... not just for the Cathedral and the Carnival.
A group of mushrooms, of all sizes, neatly lined up amongst the green foliage.
What a nice topic for the week? Science and photography... two of my favorite things. :)
For the subject, I searched on directional freezing mentioned in the discussion to produce the clear ice. This was my third attempt as the previous two did not go well (good bye exploded cherry). Hahaha.
I built a DIY container with cut plastic bottle wrapped with aluminum foil to allow only one side to freeze. I used barbecue sticks and nylon string to hold the strawberry under water because it floats all over. The small piece left in the photo was supposed to be at the back part but the strawberry spun around while floating. Oh well.... :)
The explosion looking effect and the red streaks going upwards was not an intentional effect. I think the strawberry got squeezed while freezing and there are air inside being pushed outwards. I used a yellow background to emphasize this.
For the lighting I used a strobe from the front which actually reflected on the ice. I was chasing against the melting subject so did not have time to find the right angle to take away the reflection. Oh well again... :) hahaha.
I really enjoyed this weeks topic. I hope you guys like the pic as well. Thanks in advance for comments and faves. HMM!!!
A tree stands above its compatriots with the backdrop of Pressendye, our target for the day, in the background.
Possibly half way up Ben MacDui now looking back along the way we've come along Glen Lui.
Ben Macdui is the UK's 2nd highest peak (second only to Ben Nevis) and stands at 1309m (4294ft). After descending from this Munro we make a climb to the 2nd Munro of the day, Carn a' Mhaim (pronounced Carn-ah-Vame) at 1037m (3402ft).
The scene from the bottom of our garden is amazing, as our house turns into a lakeside property. Fortunately with the railway line between us and the water, we're always pretty safe.
Week #16, topic #24 #me as per Group #52of2017 - 52 things I want to photograph in 2017"
PS my Mac died on his 5th birthday ;-(( I hope it can be repaired until then I am working from a mall laptop screen......Apologies if the colours are not as usual....
So the topic for the calendar 2024 is the evening mood in the mountains and showing people are living there too.
So here Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau catch the last sun rays as the small train rattles by.
The topic for Macro Mondays for September 12 is Begins With The First Letter of My First Name (which is R).
A long weekend in London sees us staying at this hotel, with fine views of St. Katherine's Docks on the Thames and City of London beyond.
We're camping at Bargara (out of Bundaberg) . I went to the beach, before sunrise this morning & the pink sky was beautiful & reflecting on the sand at low tide.
I've taken Soooo many sunrise photos, and on a morning like this, the beauty gave me a big Smile & joy in my heart.
A gentle camera movement helps to give another element to the scene.
COLOR- KEY is the Topic for Saturday December 10th, Griuo Our Daily Challenge
This huge mushroom, some kind of Bolete I believe, was growing beneath a shrub. The cap is a foot across, I know this because I measured it with my foot!
Sunset. South Haven, Michigan.
As I cycle up Glen Shee from the Spittal of Glenshee the days out wonderfully bright as the morning sun lights the dramatic landscape around me. Unfortunately this isn't to last and the weather closes in the higher I climb towards Glas Tulaichean.
Glas Tulaichean is my 5th Munro of the season and the 28th in total, bringing me to a Munro completion rate of near enough 10%. The mountain stands at 1051 meters (3448 feet) and is the last one I will do as I have now moved away from Scotland and back to my roots in South Yorkshire as the pull of the Grandchildren was just too strong.
It cannot be said often enough: do not eat yellow snow!
I took this photo at Mita Beach Ice, where I can go ice skating, drink mulled wine, and fool around during the winter months :)
My outfit is new. I found it at “V8 Underground” and it's called “Galdina X Christmas Style.”
It's been a tough 1.5 hour climb to this point so I'm taking my time to get my breath back above the stunning Loch Kander before continuing on to reach the summits of Tom Buidhe and Tolmount, which can be seen in the distance to the right.
Tom Buidhe (pronounced Towm Boo-ee-ya) and translates as 'The Yellow Hill', is my 20th Munro and stands at 957 meters (3139 feet). Tolmount bizarrely translates from Gaelic as 'Uncertain', but it is my 21st Munro, and stands at 958 meters (3143 feet). The day sees me covering 18 miles by bike & hike so what I AM certain of is, it's going to be epic and it's going to hurt.
My usual collage for this month's photo.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
This is from the garden - my husband calls it a pest plant because it spreads everywhere. But it provided a lovely icm image of patterns.
A pair of blue dice each showing the face of four, reflected by four in a mirror, all set against a bright orange background.
Another from the archives, so looking for something bit different.
This 'art' installation was from couple of years ago at the Swell Beach Sculpture festival.
A pyramid of bread crates, which I thought was so clever. It survived the 2 weeks of the exhibition on the open beach at Burleigh Heads.
Getting nearer Troulos now but this old gate caught our attention as the skies slowly darken with the approaching storm.
My nephew some how enjoying in the washing machine...
