I keep hearing that dentists prey on people's money, by having really expensive operations and convincing reasons why that would be necessary.
However, there is a good reason to have those operations, because if you don't you probably need to have your tooth extracted, and we all know what that means. Right, a nightly visit by the tooth fairy.
You really don't want that!
This is cast of a mammoth tooth on display at the PG&E Visitors Center out near Avila. The center is there to teach people about the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. It had a little display about the natural history of the area around the plant, including this fossil. See next picture for details.
