"They told me there would be skulls! Geez, what a misplaced name..."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Be sure to check out my Timelapse video :D
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A creation inspired by one of my all time favorites. when I look back I wound up copying the layout as well as the idea, but I think my difference in style more than makes up for the similarities, plus the world can never have to many skull islands
I tried out tons of new things in this build, even so far as ordering a bunch of ninja turtle torsos, so I can stick little green hands everywhere for added effect to the foliage. I have a few closeups of neat things here:
Water - Fly traps - Bonzai - Rubber bands - Pillars 1 - Pillars 2 - Skull close up
Hope you enjoy it!
What if I told you it was all meant to be?
Would you believe me?
Would you agree?
It's almost that feeling
We've met before
So tell me that you don't think I'm crazy
When I tell you, love has come here and now
A moment like this
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this
Some people search forever
For that one special kiss
Oh, I can't believe it's happening to me
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment
Like this
Everything changes but beauty remains
Something so tender
I can't explain
Well, I may be dreaming
But still lie awake
Can't we make this dream last forever?
And I'll cherish all the love we share
A moment like this
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this
Some people search forever
For that one special kiss
Oh, I can't believe it's happening to me
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment
Like this
Could this be the greatest love of all?
I wanna know that you will catch me when I fall
So let me tell you this
Some people wait a lifetime for a moment
Like this
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment like this
Some people search forever
For that one special kiss
Oh, I can't believe it's happening to me
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment
Like this
Oh, like this (moment like this)
Oh, I can't believe it's happening to me (moment like this)
Some people wait a lifetime
For a moment

I told the hubs I thought I would never have a "craving" for Chinese food only because we have it more often than not . . . although we were only gone for about 9 days for some reason I just had a craving for it (it must have been all of them ribs we had). After my visit to Urgent Care (nothing major . . . rather "funny"), the hubs and I had Chinese food. I didn't feel like eating inside so we had our lunch to go. I had their "house special" honey walnut shrimp served with fried rice, egg roll and green salad with crunchy jicamas (in vinaigrette dressing).

December is a bit of a hectic month for us so hopefully I will get to see all of your images very soon that I may have missed. In the meantime, I will thank you now in advance for having a peak at my images here.
With this shot I told the tale of our fabulous good fortune running into a perfectly timed Laurel to Missoula manifest just as we pulled up into Helena: flic.kr/p/2nLG64k
Here's another shot as the pair of SD70ACEs march up through Tobin in this long telephoto view looking downgrade from the Birdseye Rd. crossing near MP 6.2 on Montana Rail Link’s 3rd Subdivision. The state capital of Helena only a half dozen miles east is obscured in a haze of wildfire smoke on this warm late summer day. The duo are assisted by a manned swing helper set of four more ACEs working to boost them up the 2.2% grade to the 5566 ft. top of the Continental Divide about fourteen to the miles west on the original 1883 Northern Pacific mainline, the nation's second transcontinental railroad.

* * who told u that i won't open my heart and let you go to another one?! If u fall in love with another one, i'll forget about u right now. Forget a love is really difficult .. you dunt have to know that my heart is missing you?! ..
You told me that
you wanted to visit these places with me
And I would.. as a couple, right..
You wanted to go to church with me
And I would.. as a couple, right?
You wanted to have sister that you can kiss and hug
And I would.. as a couple, right??
You encouraged me to keep practising
painting and swimming.
I would.. together with you, right?
In the next minute you just flashed.. and are gone..
Not even a kiss.
Such a short time, Koh..
and I'll keep your secret,
as you asked me too..
Your deep burried secret
that came up to my surface
and will stay
in my heart.

Having just told my flickr friend Les Wattam that I've never seen a gypsy caravan in real life, what did I see on my way home a couple of weeks ago but these! They were lovely people on their way to the Big Green Gathering in Somerset. They must be absolutely gutted as I just heard it was cancelled this year, last minute (read here www.big-green-gathering.com/). That is all very well for those who are local and just going for a laugh, but these people took about 2 weeks on the road to get there, and were hoping to make some money from the venture I think.... they must have only just got back about now, now I think about it.
Aarash told me that Afghanistan used to be one of the biggest exporters of nuts and dried fruits in the world, now, mostly poppy fields although plans are in the pipeline to replant many of the old nut and fruit orchards for future generations, fingers crossed.....
Got a boy back home in Michigan
And he tastes like Jack when I'm kissing him
So I told him that I never really liked his friends
Now he's gone and he's calling me a bitch again
There's a guy that lives in the garden state
And he told me that we'd make it 'til we graduate
So I told him that the music would be worth the wait
But he wants me in the kitchen with a dinner plate
I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe that we're meant to be
But jealousy, jealousy, jealousy, jealousy get the best of me
Look, I don't mean to frustrate, but I
Always make the same mistakes, yeah
Always make the same mistakes 'cause
I'm bad at love (Ooh-ooh)
But you can't blame me for tryin'
You know I'd be lyin' sayin'
You were the one (Ooh-ooh)
That could finally fix me
Lookin' at my history
I'm bad at love
Got a girl with California eyes
And I thought that she could really be the one this time
But I never got the chance to make her mine
Because she fell in love with little thin white lines
London girl with an attitude
We never told no one, but we look so cute
Both got way better things to do
But I always think about it when I'm riding through
I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe that I'm in too deep
And jealousy, jealousy, jealousy, jealousy get the best in me
Look, I don't mean to frustrate, but I
Always make the same mistakes, yeah
Always make the same mistakes 'cause
I'm bad at love (Ooh-ooh)
But you can't blame me for tryin'
You know I'd be lyin' sayin'
You were the one (Ooh-ooh)
That could finally fix me
Lookin' at my history
I'm bad at love
Oh, you know, you know, you know, you know
I'm bad at love (Ooh-ooh)
I'm bad at love (Ooh-ooh)
I know that you're afraid I'm gonna walk away
Each time the feeling fades
Each time the feeling fades
I know that you're afraid I'm gonna walk away
Each time the feeling fades
You know I'm bad at love (Ooh-ooh)
But you can't blame me for tryin'
You know I'd be lyin' sayin'
You were the one (Ooh-ooh)
That could finally fix me
Lookin' at my history
I'm bad at love (Ooh-ooh)
Oh, you know, you know, you know, you know
I'm bad at love (Ooh-ooh)
Oh, oh

Told Rocket and Penny that we are going to be gone a few days and KC is gonna stay here with them.....I feel so bad I could actually stay home!!! :( We're leaving this Friday....I've never been away from Rocket this long....and I think only once for Penny Poo!! Sigh....:(
He might look harmless, but he's not. You don't become a Spaceminer if you cannot defend yourself and those shock blasters are no toy!
So be careful out there and don't start nibbling on him!
This is a picture I wanted to do for quite a long time, but you need to find the 'right' dead animal that doesn't look too ghastly. This was a fresh kill, the cat was sitting in the porch of the next allotment garden and came looking what I was doing there.

Well, I think I've told you all I know or that is essential to understanding how wonderful the engineering of the dragonfly is. I mean, here you have an insect relatively unchanged except in size for 330 million years, and has behavior (if not table manners) that we have as well (3 second sex, 10 minute courtship, etc.) that we should admire. One last thing would be, how does a dragonfly breathe?
Dragonflies as nymphs had gills for breathing under water. But where are they now? Dragonflies breathe through spiracles (holes) in the abdomen. You will find these just behind the wings, but you can't readily see them even in an image like this one.
During their earlier, larval, stage, the insects live in water and breathe through gills. During both stages, Dragonflies exhibit voracious appetites, feeding exclusively on small animal matter.
What few articles or books fail to mention is that breathing takes place with every movement of the wings. Dragonflies need quite a bit of oxygen to fly in every direction and sometimes at 35 mph. Well, they breathe in more air when their wings are moving very fast, and they relax when perched at rest. I emulate that every time I'm chasing one: I gasp while running, but only pant when resting. And the days of a voracious appetite disappeared years ago except in instances when I just happen to find a bowl of butter pecan ice cream of orange sherbet in front of me. I have no idea where it came from, but it will be gone in a second!
Have you ever been told you’re "too sensitive" for noticing a lie? Or had someone "forget" a promise so convincingly that you doubted your own memory?
On January 7th at 12 PM SLT, Artcare Gallery invites you to a profound exhibition: "Gaslighting" by Julana Allen. Inspired by the award-winning short film, Julana uses the stark landscapes of Angry Land to tell the story of a woman held by invisible strings - clinging to red balloons of hope that have been stained by manipulation.
The curator of the ArtCare Gallery, Carelyna, will be playing a music set, weaving a musical narrative that guides us from the fog of confusion into the light of reclamation.
We ask you to join us in a Dress Code of Pure White.

First of all; yes, I have gone back to being Pro. But truth to be told, it's not because I wanted it so badly, but simply because trying to narrow your photo quantity down from 5000+ to less than 1000 happened to be just too much.
Got down to 1500-something, and then I got stuck. Both with the deleting, as with finding an alternative that could have prevented me from going Pro and supporting Flickr's dumbass, hypocrite latest move that has as little to do with being there for its community than Big Pharma is there for the well-being of its customers.
Has deleting all of those photos been in vain then? Neah, most of these photos were of such a quality that it's actually for the better they have been taken offline. Having deleted all of those photos has also given me plenty of inspiration of ideas and locations that really need a redo, years after most of them have been taken.
So to look at things from the bright side, I suppose at least I won't be bored anytime soon. :) Both with continuing to make my own photos (in between admiring your photos), and finding an alternative so I only have to waste 50 bucks just once (probably in the likes of creating a free second account where I will hover over the oldest 1000 photos on this account).
Until then, I guess I better enjoy the amazing perks that come along with a Pro membership, such as a lack of advertisements, and statistics to check out. I'm anticipated with excitement already!
And now to end this rant for once and for all, and to get back to business...

There is a story told of a king who was suffering from unhappiness, whose astrologer told him that the only cure for him was to find a happy man, get his shirt, and wear it night and day. So messengers were sent throughout the king's realm in search of such a man, with orders to bring back his shirt. Months passed, and after a thorough search of the country the messengers returned, but without the shirt.
"Did you find a truly happy man in all my realm?" the king asked.
"Yes, O king, we found one, just one in all thy realm," they replied.
"Then why did you not bring back his shirt?" the king demanded.
"Master, the man had no shiirt," was the answer.
My wife told me I must take Darcy for a walk when I got home from work. I didn't fancy "round the block" so I went up to Ramshaw Rocks, just across from The Roaches. I had never been before but had to see this place that was increasingly appearing on flickr for myself. I was actually was hoping I might see a dinosaur even if the light was subsiding by the time I got there. The clouds were the most interesting feature last night but it was obvious that the blooming heather would be beautiful in the right light. I did see a dinosaur on this first recce (you won't believe me) and I shall return to get a decent shot of it soon (my first was a bit blurry).

The Karn/Weadock generating complex sits at the mouth of the Saginaw River along the Saginaw Bay shoreline in Hampton Township, Mich. The Weadock plant began generating electricity in 1940. It is named after John C. Weadock, a Bay City attorney and a founding father of the company. He was company president from 1941-51 and director from 1934-38 and 1940-65. The Karn plant began serving Michigan customers in 1959 and is named for Dan E. Karn, a former company president (1951-60) and director (1933-67). Weadock coal-fueled units 7 and 8 began operating in 1955 and 1958, respectively. Karn coal-fueled units 1 and 2 began operating in 1959 and 1961, respectively. Karn units 3 and 4, both fueled by natural gas and oil, began operating in 1975 and 1977, respectively. The coal units are considered baseload units because they generally operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Have a great weekend!
I've told you, already, how much i love to go to the same places more than once to experiment new approaches on handling the same subject. So today i was reading a book about lighting techniques and i found this quote from Vince Lombardi and I think this is a wonderful advise to many of us on Flickr.

After my first moon shot of September 23, I told myself I wanted to “hunt” all of the phases of the moon. I was planning to get 15 phases, but I ended up getting 9, because unless I took some during the day or having to wake up at 4am… 15 would take months. It took me almost 2 months to get those 9 phases. Sometimes the clouds were hiding the moon so I had to wait two more weeks for a certain phase.
I took this Vegas picture on my way back from the desert, I stopped on the side of the freeway around midnight and took a long exposure shot of a car passing fast. I found it perfect to add all of my moon phases.
Moons and dates from left to right:
11/16/15 - 10/21/15 - 09/23/15 - 10/26/15 - 09/27/15 - 09/29/15 - 11/01/15 - 10/04/15 - 11/05/15
All taken with either Canon t3i at 300mm or Canon ES Powershot+Binoculars.

And I know she'll be the death of me
At least we'll both be numb
And she'll always get the best of me

But at least we'll both be beautiful and stay forever young

After the epic Pan Aming as told in this tale: flic.kr/p/2nmZ8Ex there wasn't much else to do with my afternoon this far north....err east. After the maintainer got their locomotive issue resolved the WANM finally got moving to switch out their train. Meanwhile CP had already gone home and the OT-1 crew got their power out and moved down toward the west end of the yard where they tied down.
The light was gorgeous, though, so despite the power still being at the far east end of the yard out of sight I grabbed some scenes of this once great railroad junction still littered with memories of its Maine Central and Bangor and Aroostook days. Tucked over on track three are a pair of battered former MEC Russell Snowplows. Still wearing green and yellow paint with faded pine tree logos, nunbers 78 and 92 have been residents here for years as their broken windows and graffiti marked sides attest. Built in 1944 and 1954 respectively, I have no idea when these two last moved any snow and wonder if they ever will again.
The oval door in the foreground with the CP no trespassing sign leads down to a subterranean underpass built of corrugated metal which attests to how busy this place once was. This was buit by the BAR so its employees could safely pass from their big yard and roundhouse on the right to their depot and office on left. While both still stand they are long disused with the depot now abandoned and the roundhouse sold and used as a junk dealership and completely devoid of tracks and its turntable. So even if Pan Am parks trains for days here there are no employees left tale use of this old tunnel from days long past.

Are You Living That Greatest Story Told?
I’ve heard from others that you should live a life
that would make yourself jealous
In the end, it's all a perspective
To make life a statement of bold.
So I'm heading off on another journey,
31 US national parks so far
And I’m not planning on stopping!
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon while on a flight from SLC to SEA…and one hell of a view to Mount Rainier and the national park there. The story behind this image is me watching the last Avengers movie on that Delta flight. I’d just finished watching the ending credits and decided to open the window blind to see what I might notice outside. Then I stopped all thoughts and took in this wonder of Mount Rainier...and what a sight it was! I then quickly realized that I needed to grab my Nikon SLR camera and set it up using a focal point that allowed me to capture as much as I could in focus, not just the plane wing, but also the landscape in mountain peak with clouds above. This was beautiful, I kept saying out loud but mainly to myself. I’ve been to Mount Rainier National Park many times since a visit in the late 90s with a friend and her family; it never disappoints!
I finally figured out this difference after talking to so many different people when the reign of Trump occurred and gauged their reactions. We've all been told there are major issues like abortion, immigration, health care, education...
But, I figured it out...the only real difference between a liberal and a conservative is that a conservative only reacts, votes, and advocates along certain lines when an issue directly effects them...so, the woman that votes for Trump even though her husband and father of her 4 kids is an illegal immigrant and then gets outraged when he's deported...or the many Americans who will get outraged when/if Trump completely defunds Obamacare and they are left with nothing...they don't think on the "we" basis. They think only about the "me."
But a liberal, a liberal cares when anything negatively impacts a member of our community. Because, we see the connection..it's not just about human rights we're talking about here, although plenty of liberals care about that. But, what I'm saying is that liberals understand their place in the world in a more holistic sense. We realize that if a member of the community, whether it is a Black man wrongfully killed by police or a an anti-Muslim ICE raid that leads to a harmful deportation and disruption of family lives, this negatively impacts the quality of life of everyone in the community and we cannot ignore it. A liberal realizes that all humans should be honored based on the identity they choose vs. the one they happen to be born with even if we ourselves are heterosexual because it makes for a more accepting world. A liberal realizes we need to invest in climate change solutions before we're actually under a rising sea level. A liberal realizes putting guns in the hands of people who are mentally ill so easily without any background checks is a detriment to the safety of all.
I realize liberals have gotten a bad name in some circles and media outlets...and, it's not hard to see why...we live in a self centered world where profit is a god and many conservatives all out for themselves are both unhappy and rich. They own so many more major media outlets and they control the message. But, let's be clear, money doesn't buy you happiness...being part of a community does bring happiness and increase your quality of life. And, if more people thought about the community aspect..more about the we and less about the I...the world would be a much better shared safe space for us to live in.
Just ask Denmark, the famous masters of hygge or happiness. They care more about the we. They make sure all people have some basic protections. And, though they seem fond of burning a bunch of candles around wooden furniture, they still have much fewer fatalities.

see? I told you.
you told me? you said he's alive.
well there's your proof. I told you.
this? what does this prove?
sid lives, just like it says.
sid? I don't know any sid! I don't care about sid! I don't need to find sid!
you don't? then why'd you ask me?
I said the kid! what happened to him? he disappeared! the kid! not sid!
the kid? oh. well, maybe we should ask sid. he might've seen him.
sure. from the looks of this place, I'll bet he's a wealth of knowledge.
I definitely think so too.
Well, Dad told me to tell you that after some time and patience he finally bit the bullet and shelled out for a newer camera. I'm surprised at that. He's always taken care of his teeth and biting a bullet can't be good for them. Besides, how does biting a bullet help buy a camera? And don't get me started on using shells to pay. Anyway, Dad says it's Jim Dandy. So at least I know who to talk to and ask to stop giving him bullets-
"Clancy, your mind is wandering."
He's moved up five grades in the Canon Rebel series from the dependable old T2i/550D to the T7i/800D. The old one still works but in 6 years of a conservative average of 250 clicks a day, well, I'm no good at math but Dad says from all research it's way past it's expected lifespan and he doesn't want to be caught flat-footed if it dies on him. I don't even want to KNOW how flat feet enter into this.
Other than the comfort of familiarity, that dependability is why he's sticking with the Rebels. That old T2i was his first DSLR and has done everything asked of it under virtually all conditions except pouring rain, and even though both these cameras are not rated 'weather sealed', nobody seems to have told the T2i.
He's very happy with the new one and the EF-S 55mm lens that came with it (above photo). But unfortunately while in the process of comparing both cameras with his workhorse EF-S 250mm lens, the darn thing up and quit in auto-focus mode. This lens was bought with the T2i so it's probably accounted for one half of all the photos he took with that camera, so it's really held up well til now. Manually focusing on a fast moving dog like me is not easy, and not something he tries often because of it, so it's back to time and patience to try and score a new 250mm lens.
Which means I'll have to talk to Jim Dandy sooner rather than later.
"And this was finishing up so well."
Whad I say?

Hubby just planted "mystery bulbs" he told me by the back deck. I knew when I saw the bud it would the allium coming up. They are now getting ready to burst open :-) It's not a tack sharp image of the one bud but I don't care, I like the painterly look to it. Besides, the mosquitos were having a feast on me as I tried to get the image.

Spencer: Hi Tuesday friends! I told my mummy that my friends had found pretty pins, so I asked her if she has any, and she said she does, except they\'re hidden because The Cat might want to play with them and it would be dangerous. She showed me the box, and look, Peter (Marian Kloon (on and off)) and Scout! (raaen99) Do you like these? There\'s a pretty pink one, and a pretty blue one, and one with a funny fluffy black thing, and one that is a pretty yellow flower! I tried them all on, and I really like the fluffy funny black thing, which my mummy says is from a TV show called Barbapapa, which means Daddy\'s beard, which is really funny. My mymmy says that in English it is called cotton candy, which I find really pretty, but that the characters in the TV shows are a family who can change forms and have funny name and the Daddy is called Barbapapa and the fluffy black one is called Barbouille. Anyway, I like that pin and I think I will wear it sometimes, but I prefer the yellow flower because it is a happy colour! Which ones do you prefer, Scout and Peter?

March 3: I've told you about how large the family of Euphorbias is, and you've responded with minor statement of surprise and awe. After all, Euphorbias range from tiny annual plants to large and long-lived trees. The genus has over or about 2,000 members, making it one of the largest genera of flowering plants. (Remember the Baseball Euphorbia from last year? See below. And don't forget the Stone crop and Carrion eating plants in the same Family.)
Well, as we were walking through the garden early in March, it was Sharon who spotted this ... oddity. We had to go and get Brian, the botanist and Curator of the Garden. Turns out that this now very large Euphorbia was not, as we first thought, two or three plants that had formed into one, but "just" a rare growth from another lowly member of the Family. Even Brian had to take a minute to explain. Btw, this plant is 3.5 feet tall and about as wide and with the same circumference! Not exactly what you had planned when you got it for the patio table.
[April 10: Turns out that this growth has also been referred to as the "Candelabra cactus", a plant that has adapted very well to dry regions.] Just looks like one huge head of lettuce ... or, better, even a deep sea (Mesophotic) fan.] Two hours later: A little more research and I found Euphorbia Lactea Cristata Elkhorn VERY LARGE RARE, $700 for a baby.
By the way, I've included this in "wildflower groups." Be certain that when this blooms, I'll show you why. That is, IF it blooms, but it must set seed somehow. (When I first photographed this, I had tried to leave out the tall "cactus" in the back that I thought was all by itself. Turns out that that's just an almost four foot extension of this one plant, and attached, but off on its own. At least ten years old. What will it be like in another ten?)
