This is a common weekend breakfast at our home. Poached egg on bacon avocado toast with lemon pepper. Very tasty and hard to beat.
(Full disclosure: I accidentally over-cooked this egg, normally the yoke is runny… but it was still tasty!)

Yesterday for the first time since my retirement I made halva with semolina, Greeks do this during lent.
MM 2nd.The best toast I ever had was when I was young and at my grandparents house.They had an open fire and we would toast bread or crumpets on toasting forks.I don't have an open fire but when I took this photo it just reminded me of those times.For the set up I place a second flash behind another slice of bread which gave it the warm look.
With our drought, some of the prairie grass got toasted as you can see here. Some of the other prairie plants are deeply rooted and drought resistant, so I am still hopefull for our normal September goldenrod and sunflower show.
Coronation Market is located in Downtown Kingston, Jamaica. As a child going there with my parents, aunt or grandparents I knew there would be one delicious reward — a refreshing jelly coconut!

This year has been very grey and dark and it has been hard to drum up the enthusiasm for photography. So a kick up the back end and a little playing. A toast to light, and hoping for more of it next year. (Nothing original but something to get back in practice at light hunting!)
It only took about 6 tries to get it right!

at 9 past 9 on monday the 9th. i made myself a toast for breakfast. with 9 stripes and nine dots of curry ketchup, i added a nine shaped splash for good measure. bon apetit.
Some builders are bred for greatness, and others are just bread to be toasted. It's a Wonder some have even made it this far...
Goes together like toast and jam. I always enjoy toast and strawberry jam with a cup of tea in the morning.

You're gone 6 weeks and all you bring me home is toast? Are you crazy? It's the spreadable butter with canola oil? Is that good for my little heart? Okay I'll taste it. Not bad, not totally acceptable, but not bad.... nom, nom, nom, nom.
Roasted capsicum and spiced baby potatoes with poached egg on whole grain toast. Perfect!

Great Harvest Bread Co. has a great poster of toast and a variety of toppings that hangs on the wall of my local shop. Every time I visit I think I need to create my own version. I had a loaf of bread that was on the way out and decided today is the day to play. This pan is courtesy of a friend, she is great at getting pans to have personality. The almond butter and plum jam were made from scratch.
Well last night was a bit of a disaster:-
Heavy rain and high winds resulted in a "power cut" as I was cooking the evening meal for my 95 year old mother in law.
So out with the torches and the camping stove.
NOW you should NOT put a gas camping stove too close to an electric toaster!
Working by torch light means that only one spot is illuminated at a time, so while retrieving some ingredients (pepper) from the cupboard I noticed an odd yellow flicker out of the corner of my eye. I should have turned round more quickly - but no I got the pepper out of the cupboard before turning round.
Burning plastic is harder to extinguish than I expected.
Oh well it could have been a lot worse.
(I would have expected the plastic on a toaster to be fire resistant).
