I just might have something interesting+different to show at this year's Maker Faire NYC beyond the usual 3D printed stuff!
This painting has been taking shape quickly. It is a little larger than A3 stretched canvas. I wasn't able to sew directly onto the canvas as it's a deep edge and it wouldn't fit under the sewing machine foot. Instead I stitched through paper/tissue paper and then applied these to the canvas. I only some elements tonight... I wonder whether the creature near her legs constitutes a pet?
Lesson: don't leave a piece of pottery carefully wrapped in two colors of tissue paper, in the cupboard, within reach of an enterprising kitty-cat.

Coloured tissue paper can bleed in collage, but not if using acrylics and permanent inks. And, the other reason to colour your own tissue paper is... it's fun!
I was going to save all the tissue because it looked new, and I hate to waste anything.
But Gideon became so attached to it that I didn't have the heart to take it from him!

Cute miniature at my uncle's house. I used a few pieces of folded tissuepaper taped over the flash to diffuse and weaken it. Otherwise, this picture would have been a big white blob.
